Avia's POV:

It was the night before my 4th chemotherapy session. Mom and Dad were discussing about the time clash in their bedroom.
I was outside their door. It was all my fault. This was Emmi's biggest dance recital yet and the family couldn't go.
Emmi walked up to me and stood at the door, listening. She opened the door.
"Just go to Avia's chemo and leave me with Aunt Carlie," Emmi whispered.
"No, leave me with Aunt Carlie," I protested.
"Why not we call Aunt Carlie to come over tomorrow morning? Then we decided who she goes with. Let's sleep on it first, alright?" Mom said.
Emmi and I nodded and we went back to our bedroom.

Next Morning

I put on a comfy pink shirt and black and white shorts. I grabbed my crutches and made my way upstairs.
"Avia? You can have breakfast on the couch with Emmi today," Mom said.
"Thanks," I said.
I was really tired from the strong dose of chemo 2 days ago. I grabbed my plate of eggs, sausage and toast and sat on the couch.
5 minutes later, Emmi joined in.
"Avia? Your health is super important. Mom and Dad must be there for you. I have way more dance recitals in the future they can go to next time when you get better. And you will get better," Emmi said firmly.
The phone rang. Mom picked it up.

Colette's POV:

C: Hello, Colette Butler, how can I help you?
M: Hello, I am Mary, Emmi's dance coach. The recital has been post-poned to next month due to some errors backstage and the earliest the dance recital can be held is next month on a Saturday.
C: Oh, thanks for informing me. Have a great day, Mary.
M: You too, Ms Colette, good-bye.

I ended the call and hurried to the girls.
"Mary? That's my coach," Emmi said.
"Yes. The recital is post-poned to next month on a Saturday! Avia doesn't have chemo then so we can all go and see you, Loofus!" I squealed.
I was so happy. Avia was getting the treatment she needed with our suppport and Emmi could get our support at an important time in her life! Perfect!
"That's awesome! OMG, YAY!" Emmi shrieked.
"I'm so happy we can all go and see Emmi!" Avia hugged her.
"Yes, it is awesome. I'll just go and call Carlie to cancel her coming here," I said, walking away.

Avia's POV:

So, it was pretty much all the same until 5, after my chemo. We piled into the car.
Mom vlogged. I accidentally lost one of my crutches in the mountain of bags. Emmi spilled her water on Daxton.
Daxton cried. Brock wanted to get wet too. Gavin blew a huge balloon and popped it. Daxton cried again.
We checked in. We did the chemo. I held Mom's hand. I cried a little. We watched a movie. Then, it started.

Shay's POV:

I checked my watch 4:55. Ugh. Rose, Carlie's new friend who is now a part of Trixin liked me. I liked her too. She was so pretty. She wanted to go on a date with me but I'm stuck here with that ugly brat. I planned to sneak out at night and meet her.

Emmi's POV:

"I'm tired. I'm going to sleep," Avia said.
The chemo must be kicking in. I nodded and gave her a hug. Dad walked towards her and gave her a hug.

Avia's POV:

I felt so weak. I sat in Dad's arms while he hugged me. I pulled away and took his hand.
"Daddy? When I'm not here... you have to take care of Mom and the rest of the kids. That means no slapping Emmi," I whispered in a weak voice.
I started coughing, then burping. Then, I threw up all over his white shirt.
"WHAT THE HELL, AVIA?! I HAVE A DATE LATER!" Dad screamed.
"SHAY! HOW CAN YOU SCOLD HER? SHE IS SICK! AND I DON'T RECALL A DATE FOR TONIGHT, NOT WHEN MY BABY IS SICK!" Mom screamed back.
I started crying and throwing up more. Mom sat next to me.
"Honey, it's okay. Don't keep it in. Throw up if you have to. I'm not going to scold you. It's going to be alright. We'll clean up, get you a bucket and we'll have a good time watching movies and videos, okay? I won't get mad," Mom said soothingly.
She hugged me and glared at Dad.
"The date is not with you. It's with Rose," Dad said icily.
Mom let go of me. Tears were streaming down her face.
"You have a girlfriend? Shay, you're married to me!" Mom shouted.
Dad simply slapped my face and walked out of the room. I cried as I threw up all over Mom, the bed and myself.
"I'm so-," I threw up again.
"Avia, shhh, it's okay. It's okay. Don't talk yet. I'm not mad, I don't mind. I have no dates to go to, unlike that vile monster of a Dad," Mom said, massaging my face where Dad had slapped me.
Gavin walked over to me and massaged my back.
"Mama, do you want me to get a nurse?" Gavin asked.
"Yes, thank you, honey," Mom smiled.
10 minutes of non-stop vomiting later, I was done. A nurse came in with Gavin.
She was carrying new bedsheets, a pail of water, a bucket, rags and tissues.
"I think I vomited out all the contents of my body," I whispered weakly.
Everyone laughed nervously. Mom and I changed into the clothes we had brought while the nurse changed the bedsheets.
"Thank you, nurse. Sorry for troubling you," I said weakly as she put me in bed.
"I know how horrible you must feel. It's alright. It's a side effect. You can't help it. I suggest eating to fill you up and just resting, okay? Get well soon, sweetie," she smiled, handing me a packet of Skittles.
She walked out of the room.
"I'm sorry, everyone," I said softly.
"It's okay. You can't help it. We all throw up and it feels horrible. Now can I have a Skittle?" Emmi giggled.
I laughed and handed her a red one.
"Mama? Are you and Dad divorcing?" I asked, scared.
"Of course not!" Mom snapped.
I whimpered and covered myself with a pillow, as if that could protect me from angry Mom.
"Oh, sweetie, I'm sorry. I'm just upset with your Father, alright? It'll be fine. We both love all 5 of you forever and ever," Mom said, putting the pillow away.
"Then why does Papa always slap us nowadays? What did Emmi and I do?" I whimpered.
"He was angry, okay? He won't do that again. I'll make sure. Now stop thinking about it and rest. I'll go get you kids something to eat," Mom sighed.
She stroked my hair, then left the room. Emmi came up to me and sat next to me.
"Daddy doesn't love us anymore?" Brock said softly.
He walked over to Emmi. Emmi picked him up and sat him on her lap.
"I don't know, Brock. He has a girlfriend," Emmi whispered.
"Mommy is his girlfriend?" Brock asked.
"No. Not Mommy, another girl," I sighed, turning the TV on.
Power Rangers was on but Brock ignored it.
"So he doesn't love Mommy anymore?" Brock asked.
"Hey look, Brock, the Power Rangers are fighting the bad guys!" Gavin said.
He picked Brock up and put him in a chair in front of the TV.
"Don't say. He'll get upset," Gavin said, stroking Emmi's hair.
"Then you want us to lie to him?" I asked.
"I don't know, okay!" Gavin yelled.
I backed away from him. He sighed.
"I'm sorry," Gavin said.
