Since I was a little girl I was always a little scared of the monsters under my bed, but my dad would always teach me how to ignore these monster and fight against them. Until, it cost him his life. I was only ten when it happened. I heard a scream come from my dad's study and me, being a curious little girl, I went to go check it out. As I opened the door to the study a breeze of smoke hit my face. It smelled like scratchy pieces of coal making me cough and disgusting smoke. I tried my best to push through it but, once I was half way through I realized that this wasn't a normal cloud of smoke. It was, in fact, one of the monsters that dad told me about. So from what he taught me, I quickly took in as much air as possible and held my breath.

"GOLD MOVE!" My dad yelled from the entrance of the study holding a steampunk looking musket. I quickly ran out of the toxic cloud and took cover behind a desk allowing my dad to take the shot. He then fired off his musket, but instead of bullets it shot out a strange looking net that was glowing blue and knotted multiple times around the corners. Once the net touched the gas monster it quickly wrapped up around it and tightened to make sure the monster wouldn't get out. Once the monster was caught my dad ran over to me and said with worry, "Are you ok sweetie!?". I was about to open my mouth and say something in response but, our moment was short lived as a knock came from the door. "Stay here Gold, I'll go see who it is" my dad said as he walked to the door getting ready to pull out his pistol from his back pocket.

My dad then swung open the door with the Blue trimmed and silver colored pistol aimed at whoever was on the other side. "Nice to see you too Damien," the man waiting outside our house said.

"Sorry John, come in" my dad said as he put away his gun back into his back pocket. John then walked in and took off his black cloak revealing his very pale skin and fancy soldier looking clothing. "Follow me to the study. We can talk there" my dad said to John while walking over to the study where I was spying on their conversation. "Oh hey sweetie. I forgot that you were in here" Dad said with a chuckle. "Why don't you go back to your room and go to sleep. Ok? Ok".

I nodded to my dad and I ran back up to my room curious who this John was, but I didn't want to disobey my dads suggestion that was obviously a order. I got back inside my room and I hopped onto my bed ready for a good nights sleep, but all I got were nightmares of that stupid monster made of gas.

In the morning I woke up to the soothing noise of the birds in the tree outside my window. So I got up, changed into my regular clothing and headed down stairs ready for breakfast. Once I got into the kitchen, there was a plate of bacon and pancakes waiting for me and a small note next to it. I walked up to the plate of delicious food and picked up the note.

Dear Gold,

Something has popped up and I need to head out for a little. Don't worry, I asked a old friend of mine to take care of you. I love you and take care.

Love, Dad

Once I finished reading it, I wondered what it could be that made him have to leave for a little while. But that didn't last long as I looked back at the food and forgot everything I was thinking and just started to dig in. Almost right after I finished eating there was a knock at the door. With me being the only one in the house, I decided to walk towards the door and open it. As my hand reached for the doorknob, it turned and the door opened. On the other side there was a woman in a red shirt with a green jacket. She was also wearing glasses and a matching pair of rose earrings. "Hello my name is Rose. I'm your new babysitter," Rose said as she came in. "Now before you say anything, yes I'm a teen, yes I am immortal, and my favorite ice cream flavor is strawberry," Rose said with out giving me time to think.

"Cool!" I said in awe after meeting my first ever immortal, who would also be my first ever friend. Well except for my dad at least.
