How It All Started

When I was born (in 2063) chaos covered the world like a blanket. My mom told me it started because the leaders of the world couldn't get along. Thats when the the great wars started they erupted all over the world. There were bombings every day the radiation killed off most of the population. Those who survived had a hard time adapting. When I was born the flesh on my right arm melted off and my bones turned black. But by some miracle I could still move it. Ten years after i was born Akemi was born. she had the cutest little purple curls her hair was similar to mine in color exept Akemi's was lighter. Mom died recently after giving birth. I was ten years old and had to take care of me and my sister. I taught Akemi how to scavenge, how to purify water, how to hunt what was edible, and all the things mom had taught me. At night I would tell Akemi story's about the wars and about mom. One night Akemi asked about our father. I never knew him but mom would talk about him often. She said he was in what they called the military. He left the military after the wars started so he could be with mom. He died before I was born. Mom said it was because he was trying to protect mom from a looter when mom was pregnant with me.
As we where scavenging one afternoon a wild dear ran past us I threw my knife at it. My knife sank into the dears hind leg crippling it. We followed the blood trail all the way into an abandoned building. As we came closer to the dear I herd a creek. A tall guy jumped out and grabbed Akemi and ran.
              Akemi let out a scream. "Where are you taking me! Kimi! Help me Kimi!" Akemi screamed.
        I grabbed my knife and chased after him but I couldn't keep up. I kept running till I passed out.
I woke up crying
        "he took her!?he took the only family I had left!" I yelled.
         I laid there for two days without eating or drinking. Finally I willed myself to get up and eat. I kept scavenging and searching in the direction that man went with Akemi that day. About five years after losing my sister I found the radio. Thats when I started the transmissions.
