Once we got to Florida, I was surprised. I had originally thought that Florida was going to be all Rednecks that had pet alligators that acted as their dogs. I was very surprised that once I had actually gotten here that I haven't seen one alligator (yet), and I have also discovered that there are all kinds of people, not only rednecks. Once we arrived to our new home I decided to stop being mad. New place, new attitude. Our new house was beautiful! It had 6 bedrooms, and 6 bathrooms. We had a smallish pool outside, but that didn't matter when we had the ocean as our even bigger swimming pool! All the rooms had plain white walls, and my furniture had yet to arrive yet so I didn't know which room would be mine for sure yet. The night we arrived we didn't really have any food so we went out to eat for dinner. When we came back to the new house we set up our air mattresses and went to asleep.
The next morning around 10 or so daddy and I went for a donut run. When we came back I saw a strange basket sitting on the kitchen island. "Mommy what's this in the kitchen?" I questioned. "Oh our neighbors brought it over. They have a boy who's about your age. I think you guys should hang out soon, you know so he can show you around Jupiter Island before school starts. Wouldn't that be fun! That way you can start next year off already knowing someone." she exclaimed. "Uh yeah maybe." I stated. "Oh and I was talking to this woman in my new Pilates class, the one I left early this morning, and anyways she said her daughter is teaching some kids your age how to swim. Her daughter's name is Darby, she's 22, and she has been swimming even before she could walk. They have a pool, and Darby is teaching swim lessons. I signed you up, cause you know I thought it would be convenient since we have a pool, and we live right off of the ocean. Classes start at 8:30 in the morning and are only an hour long!" she said. Ugh what did she get me into now!? First, we're moving across the country, and now she wants me to do something way out of my comfort zone. I'm extremely shy. It takes me a while to get to know someone, and after that then I become more bubbly and open around them. I so don't want to do this. It'll be really awkward, especially since I won't know anyone else that's in the class. "Sky are you there? Are you okay?" mommy questioned. "Yes I'm here mommy. I don't want to do this! I won't know anyone, and you already made me move here, then make me become new BFF's with a guy who I don't even know his name, and now you're making me take a gigantic step out of my comfort zone. So NO I'm not okay!" I yelled, as I ran to one of the bedrooms that I guess would soon be mine. Hot tears of anger started to roll down my face. Why couldn't I have just moved in with one of my best friends in California? What if this guy that she wanted me to be friends with was a weirdo? What if I embarrassed myself so much at swimming lessons that everyone would make fun of me and I would never be able to show my face again?
Swimming lessons started the next morning. As I rolled off of my air mattress I reached into one of my boxes sitting randomly in different parts of my room. Nope, my swimsuit isn't in their, I thought as I reached to look into the next box. I finally found it and pulled it on. I went downstairs and found my favorite kind of donuts sitting on the counter. Daddy was already sitting outside with a donut of his own. "Thank you daddy for getting my favorite donuts for me" I said as I stepped outside. "Oh no honey, I didn't get these for you. They must be from your mother. This must be how she's trying to apologize to you. She really does feel bad these last few months about making you move, but she really does just want you to be happy." Daddy explained. Wait what? Mommy got up before her Pilates class to get me donuts? Now I feel guilty for the way I acted yesterday. Although I do understand that she just wants me to be happy, she should've asked me first. Once mommy got home, I hoped into her Infiniti and we headed to swim lessons. The silence in the car made the apologies that we were to afraid to say out loud. We pulled up to a house about the size of ours, and headed towards the backyard. By the pool I saw 5 girls in swimsuits, and only 1 boy in a pair of swim trunks. Darby, the swim teacher was standing beside the pool house talking to some parents. Mommy went to go join them, as I headed to go stand by the girls, and one boy. And then the boy said...
