On her 17th birthday, the girl had gotten her light.

Like a werewolf with a mate. She finally knew that there was someone out there who would care for her like a werewolf would care for their mate.

Ever since the girl was a baby child, her parents have told her the story of their meeting. They also told her all about how everybody in the world had a light. They told her all about the adventures that people took to get to their other half.

When she turned 12, her parents finally told her how the lights worked.

Sometime after turning 16, you will begin to have a light, glowing on your chest. The light will forever be pink for a girl. When you venture closer to your soul mate, the light will turn a deep red. You would feel as though your heard has filled up entirely. When you would get too far away, your light would become a very light pink. Almost a white. You will feel almost pointless. Like your entire purpose is gone.

You would feel like a laminated paper towel. Still living, but the thing it was made to do would be impossible now. You would feel completely useless, almost a depression.

For a boy, the light will be a beautiful icy blue. When they get closer to their soul mate, the light would beam a bright dark blue. When they got further away, the light would be almost like the girls, such a light blue that it was almost white. It was somewhat beautiful, but everyone knew how painful it was to have an almost white light.

The lights felt the same for the boy and the girl. Though, some people spent almost their whole lives looking for the person that they were meant to be with ever since they got their light. Then there were also some people that learned to live like a laminated paper towel. Those who will never be able to feel the amazing brightness that fills them when they have a darker color right on their chest.

As for the girl, she didn't know what to do when the light on her chest became a darker than normal pink shade. Of course she felt abnormally happy. Her heart felt completely full. The feeling that she had in her chest was absolutely indescribable. It was so great that she took a moment to stand in the middle of her walk on the New York City streets at night, and just to let her body feel what her light was giving her.

The man. The man that she was meant to be with the rest of her life was coming nearer to her. He was looking for her. He was the one making her light shine this bright.

She then realized that he was feeling the same thing in his chest. His bright light would be the brightest blue that he had ever seen. That the world had ever seen.

Suddenly, she didn't have control anymore. She felt her feet move without her consent. She knew this was when it was going to happen. She was going to meet him.

Somewhere in the New York streets, he was feeling the same thing. He no longer had control either. Their souls could not stand being apart any longer.

The feeling in her chest continued to grow as she walked alongside all of the many cabs on the street, while looking at all of the magnificent lights that were shown on the sides of buildings, lighting up the city.

As she was walking, she noticed that there were many people smiling at her once they saw the burning now, red light on her chest. They all knew what was coming for her. She was going to meet the man. The man that she sometimes tried to dream about what he would look like. She thought about what he would Be like all of the time.

She knew that she had no power over it, but she couldn't help but let her mind travel over all of the possibilities. Maybe, he was a million dollar CEO of a giant business, like Yahoo. Or, maybe he was a street fighter. He could be all buff and covered in tattoos. He could even be a need with glasses, after all, she was quite the nerd herself. Her parents have never saw her without a book in her hands.

She wasn't paying attention because she knew that her feet would guide her wherever she needed to be. She didn't even notice for a moment that her feet had stopped.

Right in the middle of an intersection full of cars pointing at her from all directions.

She tried as hard as she could to get her feet to move, but it seemed it was stuck.

Maybe this is it. Maybe her purpose in life is to get hit by 4 different cars coming at her in 4 different directions. This was her fate.

She squeezed her eyes shut. Well, it was nice to have a family while it lasted.

She suddenly felt a presence in front of her.

Her heart. Her heart was on fire. She felt full. She wasn't going to die. She was going to meet him.

She felt her eyes being opened the person in front of her.

The first thing she saw was another pair of eyes. They were a beautiful green that she felt she was going to get lost in.

She let her eyes open even further and looked at the man up and down. He was not buff, but not just skinny. He had the perfect amount of muscles to make any girls mouth water. He was wearing a white dress shirt tucked into his black pants and he had on black dress shoes.

Well crap. He was here looking like a super model and she was in her McDonalds work uniform and a jacket.

Before she could even do or say anything, the people all around them began to cheer. They were all clapping for them, even though they were standing in the middle of the road, blocking everyone. Huh, weird.

Speaking of, they should probably get out of the road. She took his hand in hers and together they walked away from all of the people and out of the center of the street.

From then on, her life was never the same.
