I opened my eyes to see Neil up in my face. "She's alive!" He cheered. "Stop being noisy..." I whispered. Neil crushed my insides... At least it felt like it. Hugs feel stronger when you can barely move. Glynda sat up on her bed and looked over at me. So did Aldia. All of them were smiling. Oh boy, this is right up there on the Creep-O-Meter! "Can I help you?" I whispered. They responded by giggling. "Neil... Did you really..." "Yeah,"
"What're we gonna do now? Go back to loneliness?" Glynda asked as Aldia kissed her cheek. "Never..." I reached into my pocket. I had $25. Neil presented a $50 bill. Glynda had $20, Aldia $30. "Let's buy an apartment," The others nodded. It took 5 hours before I could move again. 5 long, tedious, awkward, boring hours. Everyone was already packed by the time I had walked up to Neil's ship. "Did you start the party without me?" "Yeah," I punched his arm "Ow," "I found us a place to stay," Glynda approached with a tablet. "I already got your bag," "Dammit! You didn't let me do anything!" I pretended to pout at Neil.
He laughed then we all boarded the ship. "Let's go," "New life, here we come," When we made it to the apartment, Aldia and Glynda took the master bedroom while Neil and I took the remaining two. We all knew that 16 and 17 were a little young to be sleeping together, but they had a queen bed with enough space to keep boundaries. Plus, they were keeping their clothes on. Aldia and Glynda bounced on the bed like dorks as Neil and I got settled. "Neil... Thanks," "That's what family's for,"
That night, we decided to watch a movie. A little celebration for our first (of many) night of freedom. Neil took the recliner as I sat next to the two snuggling lovebirds. "Guys. We forgot to count in grocery money," Everyone facepalmed then laughed. "Just enjoy the moment,"Glynda said before kissing Aldia's forehead. "Tomorrow's another day, sis,"
Tomorrow's another day... Another glorious day...
The End
