Sophie's Point of View
"Sophie, we are going to throw a dinner party for you today," Alice exclaims excitedly.
"A party for me?" I widen my eyes, "what for?"
"To celebrate my new lady in waiting, of course," she grins, pulling me into her bedroom, "we have to do our makeup and hair. We must start preparing now."
"Thank you, my princess," I chuckle, "but don't you think it's a little too early to start preparing? There are hours until dinner."
Alice looks at me in mock disbelief, "we need all the time. It's your party. I'm going to make you the most beautiful girl in court."
She drags me into her bedroom commands a few maids to wash my hair and lather my body in expensive rose-scented lotion. The process takes miserably long, but I am satisfied with the outcome - my hair is especially shiny and my skin is especially soft.
"Sophie, I was thinking you could curl your hair for the party," Alice suggests.
"Curl my hair?" I run my fingers through my pin-straight hair, "I've never curled my hair before. I'm afraid it might not look good."
"No, no, no," Alice insists, "a slight wave and a half up-do will look great on you. Trust me."
"That sounds fantastic," I smile, "thank you, my princess."
"Now, for your dress," Alice motions the servants waiting outside her door to come in, "I picked out some dresses for you. Here, choose the one you like the most."
The servants lay out five different dresses. They are look absolutely breathtaking. A red one with a tight bodice and a light blue one with a puffier skirt catches my attention. "Oh, my," I breathe, "these dresses are gorgeous."
"So, what do you think?" Alice grins, looking proud of herself.
"All of them are beautiful, but I love the red and the blue one."
"That's exactly what I'm thinking!" She gushes, "the red one will look great on you. It's tight and lowcut so it will accentuate your curves."
I blush and bite my lip, "but..."
"What is it?"
"I've never worn something so revealing before. I doubt it's going to look good on me."
A mischievous smirk forms on her face, "why don't you try it on?"
The dress slips onto me like butter. A servant helps me zip the back up and I take a deep breath before looking into the mirror. My eyes widen as I see my reflection. The dress hugs my body perfectly; it hangs low on my chest, showing off my defined collar bone and prominent chest. I turn to the side; the outline of my waist and hips are even more obvious in the thin material. "Oh, my..." I whisper.
I hear several gasps from Alice and the servants, "Sophie! You look absolutely beautiful!"
My blush deepens into a crimson color, "please, your Majesty, you flatter me."
"It's true, lady Sophie! You look absolutely gorgeous! That dress was made for you!" One of the servants gush with a flustered and admiring look.
"Thank you, you're too kind," I give her a sincere smile. I look back into the mirror. My bright blue eyes are staring right back at me. They appear even more bluer under the sheen of the red dress. Is this really me?
The maids get to work on my hair and makeup. The makeup makes my eyes appear bigger and the deep berry rouge accentuates my pouty lips. I love the way it looks on me - although it does feel a bit heavy, it's nice to have something different every once in a while. Now, the wavy hair is my favorite part of the look apart from the dress. I've never seen my hair this way; I was born with naturally straight hair.
