I wake up, the sunlight shines upon me from a hole in the window; a kid probably threw a baseball into it. The shattered glass glistens from the sun, I blink and turn over to see Evan laying on me sound asleep. He seems so happy, I still wonder what his life was like before his parents dropped him off. I notice Todd sitting in one of the windows on the other side of the house. He's looking at something in his hand; I sneeze from the tiny bit of dust in the air and he turns around. "Bless you." he says, "Thanks." He tells me good morning and I smile as he hands me a water bottle. I set it aside and carefully lay Evan down on the other side of the mat. "What are you doing up so early?" I ask, "Oh nothing just couldnt sleep after sunrise, it's not very dark in here." he replies. Todd lays out his hand to me and he lifts me up, I realize the kindness and happiness that have came to me in the pass couple of days. I shed a small tear and hug him tightly and whisper, "Thank you so much." We stay in the hug for quiet awhile. I slowly let go; he holds my hands and looks me straight in the eyes and says, "I promise to keep you safe and to never leave you." I feel a warm flutter in my heart as I blush, I go sit by Evan "Theres a gas station down the street, we could get Evan a snack."
"Sure. He deserves something special." Todd says
As Todd puts our stuff away besides the mat that Evan is sleeping on. Evan is still really young and probably needs the extra sleep.
But I do have to wake him up so I whisper softly,
"Hey rise and shine."
He sits up and rubs his eyes. Its so adorable with his tiny hands and just him, I run my fingers through his hair fixing it up a bit. Todd finishs putting stuff away in the bag as we begin to head out. I go out the window st and Todd hands Evan to me as he gets out, I set Evan down and he rubs his eye with one hand and hes holding mine with the other. We look like a little family, even tho im fifteen but still we're a pretty cute family. The gas station is right around the corner. Todd put Evan on his shoulders because Evans feet got tired. As we head into the gas station, I spot Lucas....
My brother, Lucas.
