Harry
I'm not gonna hide, I like Cher. Maybe even like, like her. I wanted us to be together again but… Louis might have ruined it.
*~~Flashback~~*
I knocked on Cher’s door that night, 10:30 PM.
She opened her door and smiled sweetly when she saw me. “Harry.” She greeted.
She was wearing a black, heart-shaped neckline dress. It was really short considering it had no straps or anything and it reached 1/4 of the knee. She was wearing a neon-orange shoulder bag and high, knee-length boots.
“You look hawt.” The words slid through my mouth and I covered them not only to stop talking but also to stop drooling.
She blushed. “Thanks.” She paused. “Well? Don’t just stand there?” She laughed.
“Right, right.” I snapped out of my trance, took her hand and walked with her to my car.
“So, where is this gig?” She asked once she strapped herself onto the shotgun seat.
“Um… I can’t tell you. It’ll be a surprise.” I grinned.
She sighed. “Give me a clue.” She begged.
“Well, it’s pretty crazy. There. That’s a clue.” I insisted.
She pouted. “Fine.”
After a while, we got there and danced our ovaries out. She went over to the loo to fix her makeup. I watched as she disappeared when Louis came up to me.
“HEY MATE!” He greeted.
I smiled at him.
“DO YOU WANT TO GET A DRINK?!” He shouted but it sounded like a whisper against the loud music.
“A DRINK?!” I asked-shouted.
“YEAH, LIKE THE THING PEOPLE SIP AND IT WOULD COME OUT AS PEE!” He joked.
I thought of it for a while. “SURE!”
We walked over to the bar and he ordered a drink for me. I had no idea of what the drink was but as soon as Louis handed it over to me, I gulped it down.
It tasted indifferent. It was like any other ordinary drink you would find but the smirk Louis was giving me told me that something was wrong.
“WHY ARE YOU STARING AT ME THAT WAY?!” I half-asked, half-screamed.
He shook his head and mouthed, ‘nothing’.
Then, he left me and I just sat there, waiting for Cher when I felt a little dizzy. I couldn’t see correctly, I couldn’t focus. My head was spinning. I closed my eyes and counted to ten. When I opened them, there was a blonde girl standing in front of me, grinning.
“Hi, Harry, I’m Louie.” The girl said.
…
I caught sight of Cher in the corner of my eye, her mouth open wide with a very shocked expression on her face. She had two drinks in hand and the song, “Dancing On My Own” by Robyn came on.
Somebody said you got a new friend
Does she love you better than I can?
There's a big black sky over my town
I know where you're at, I bet she's around
Yeah, I know it's stupid
I just gotta see it for myself
I'm in the corner, watching you kiss her, ohh
I'm right over here, why can't you see me, ohh
I'm giving it my all, but I'm not the girl you're taking home, ooo
I keep dancing on my own
I keep dancing on my own
I'm just gonna dance all night
I'm all messed up, I'm so out of line
Stilettos and broken bottles
I'm spinning around in circles
I'm in the corner, watching you kiss her, ohh
I'm right over here, why can't you see me, ohh
I'm giving it my all, but I'm not the girl you're taking home, ooo
I keep dancing on my own
I keep dancing on my own
So far away but still so near
The lights go on, the music dies
But you don't see me standing here
I just came to say goodbye
I'm in the corner, watching you kiss her, ohh
I'm giving it my all, but I'm not the girl you're taking home, ooo
I keep dancing on my own
I keep dancing on my own
I'm in the corner, watching you kiss her, ohh
I'm right over here, why can't you see me, ohh
I'm giving it my all, but I'm not the girl you're taking home, ooo
I keep dancing on my own
I keep dancing on my own
I keep dancing on my own…
I pushed the girl off my lap while she was too busy eating my lip. “OW!” She screamed as her bum hit the floor. I didn’t care. All I cared about was Cher. Who apparently was running away from me.
I lost her several times but I looked for the neon orange bag. If I find the bag, I find Cher.
I passed by so much people. Drunk, sober, single, making out, going crazy, throwing up, dancing around and doing ridiculous things.
Then, I finally found her, by the door, running out of the club. I ran after her when I felt a thin hand grip my arm.
“Harry, wait!” Louie caught up with me.
I turned around and slapped her. Her grip on my arm loosened and I ran away.
I looked for her everywhere. I was losing her. I was losing me. I ran looked at every possible way she might have gone.
Just when I was going to give up, I heard someone exhale loudly. I found her by an alley, with her back on the wall. She was hugging her knees and she buried her head on her knees.
“Cher!” I walked slowly to her. I wanted to run to her and just hug her but she could be pretty scary when she’s terrified or mad.
She looked up and got up quickly. She hesitated for a while and tried to run past me but I caught her. “Cher.”
“Let me go.” It was an order.
“No.” I said firmly.
“Harry if you don’t let me go…” She didn’t end her sentence but I had a feeling it wasn’t so good.
I slowly let go of her hand. “I’m sorry, Cher. I really am. I know you saw that but I didn’t- I- I can’t-” I stuttered.
“Goodbye, Harry.” She pried my fingers from her arm and I watched as she disappeared.
One of the lines from 'Dancing On My Own' replayed on my head. I just came to say goodbye.
