Keely straightened out her dress as she opened the doors to the garrison, immediately she heard music, laughter and very loud men. As she stepped into the pub, she peered around hoping to spot Polly or Ada. Quickly men began to notice her and couldn't keep their eyes off the young Irish girl. She politely smiled as she moved further into the crowd, "Keely, keely! We're over here" she followed the voice and immediately spotted Ada waving her arms in the air. Keely chuckled as she made her way over to the women, "Keely dear, you look like a movie star" Polly said amazed by the young girls beauty, Keely blushed "Mary said the exact same thing" Polly laughed "ah great minds think alike my dear" Keely joined the women at the table as they chatted about nothing and had a few drinks. "So do you have any talents Keely?" Ada spoke "like singing or dancing" Keely laughed remembering her home, "well I use to sing all the time back home, I use to make the men cry so that they wouldn't fight" she smiled warmly. Ada suddenly raised from her seat and grabbed Keely's arm "Come on then, let's hear that voice" she laughed as she pushed Keely up on to the stage in front of all the men. Keely has shocked by this and didn't know what to do, she looked at Polly for help, Polly smiled and stood up "shut up everyone, this young girl is going to sing for us" all the men cheered as Polly and Ada smiled warmly at her. Taking a deep breath, closed her eyes and began to sing

"By a lonely prison wall
I heard a young girl calling
Micheal they are taking you away
For you stole Trevelyn's corn
So the young might see the morn.
Now a prison ship lies waiting in the bay.

Low lie the Fields of Athenry
Where once we watched the small free birds fly.
Our love was on the wing we had dreams and songs to sing
It's so lonely 'round the Fields of Athenry.

By a lonely prison wall
I heard a young man calling
Nothing matters Mary when you're free,
Against the Famine and the Crown
I rebelled they ran me down
Now you must raise our child with dignity.

Low lie the Fields of Athenry
Where once we watched the small free birds fly.
Our love was on the wing we had dreams and songs to sing
It's so lonely 'round the Fields of Athenry.

By a lonely harbor wall
She watched the last star falling
As that prison ship sailed out against the sky
Sure she'll wait and hope and pray
For her love in Botany Bay
It's so lonely 'round the Fields of Athenry.

Low lie the Fields of Athenry
Where once we watched the small free birds fly.
Our love was on the wing we had dreams and songs to sing
It's so lonely 'round the Fields of Athenry."
Keely opened her eyes to see every face in the pub staring back at her with amazement, suddenly Polly started clapping and everyone joined in. Keely was shocked by the response she got and couldn't hide the smile that was appearing on her face, she climbed down off the stage and joined Ada and Polly. "Oh my god, you are amazing. That was the best thing I've ever heard." Ada beamed, "thank you, that was my aunt Karla's favourite song, The Fields of Athenry." Keely smiled remembering her aunt making her sing it all the time. "I'm speechless" Polly suddenly spoke, as both Ada and Keely laughed at her. "Time for more drink I think" Keely says as she laughs. The women continue to laugh and drink until they are all ready to dance, the three women swing eachother round the floor until Ada falls over a stool. Polly and Keely can't contain their laughter once they see Ada lying on the floor, "I think it's time to go home girls" Polly speaks, whilst wiping her eyes. "I think so too" Ada agrees as Keely helps her to stand. The women wrap their costs around the bodies tightly, and hook on to each others arms for support. "Keely you should stay in my room with me, you shouldn't be walking alone at this time" Ada spoke, "yes Keely you can stay with us for the night" Polly smiled. "Okay girls, I don't think I would have made back to the b&b anyway I can hardly see" the girls laughter rang throughout the street. "Right we better be quiet, don't want to wake the boys" Polly spoke as the girls entered the house, Keely made her way upstairs with Ada as she was sharing a bed with her. "Goodnight" she whispered to Polly as she closed the door, Ada had already climbed into bed and was passed out, Keely chuckled as she also climbed into the bed.
