A week passed after the potions incident and the fuss her friends made over her about Sirius being around her so much slowly begin to fade into only odd comments here and there which was something Iris was immensely happy about. Everyday for that passing week she also went to see Myrtle in the girls bathroom on the first floor which the ghost had been rather thrilled about, seeing as nobody else chose to visit her. That was actually where Iris found out about the bullying Myrtle received on a daily basis. Her final lesson had just ended so she was free to do as she pleased for a few hours before dinner would be served in the Great Hall so Iris had gone straight to Myrtle's bathroom where she found her sobbing on the high windowsill on the far wall of the bathroom.
"They've been doing it for years now," Myrtle started after Iris asked her what was wrong. She swooped down to kneel in the air as if she were sitting besides Iris who had dropped her bag on the floor and leaned her back against one of the sinks in the centre of the room. "People come in here and throw books at me because 'I can't feel it!'" The obvious disdain in her voice as she said it just showed Iris how upset she was about the whole thing.
"It's ten points if you get it through my stomach! Fifty points if it goes through my head!" She wailed and Iris looked at her sympathetically.
"Do you know who does it to you?" She asked her, hoping she could try to sort out the problem for the surprisingly nice ghost.
"It's the Captain of your Quidditch team - Potter - and his best friend." Myrtle said and saw Iris' eyes double in size at the news but chose to ignore it.
"Myrtle, I'm so sorry!" Iris said and a watered smile fell on the ghosts lips, "I have to go but I'll be sure to come back soon, I promise."
From there Iris stormed out of the girls bathrooms and went straight for the Gryffindor common room where Remus, Peter, Sirius, James and the twins were sitting around the fire. Lily was presumably sitting in the library doing homework, if not there then she was surely hiding somewhere far away where James couldn't harass her, his efforts of wooing her had become more frequent and in Lily's terms 'more inexplicably annoying for a single girl to handle'.
As soon as Iris caught sight of the group she strode towards the two boys responsible for Myrtle's torment and glared at both of them. "You okay Smithy?" Sirius asked, a smirk already on his lips like a default setting. Despite him already finding out what her first name was (courtesy of Eleanor screaming it down a corridor after one of their lessons together while Iris tried to escape) Sirius still chose to refer to her with the same stupid nickname.
"Why would you do that to Myrtle?" She asked, aiming it at both boys who were lounging across the furniture, Sirius with his feet up on the couch and James sitting on the floor opposite Remus, both of them playing a game of Wizard Chess.
Everyone immediately fell silent, the only noise coming from one of Remus' chess pieces as it destroyed one of James'. "What are you talking about?" James asked and Iris let out an annoyed huff.
"Throwing books through her? Making it a game because she can't feel the pain?" She said, jogging their memory and regretful looks passed through both Sirius' and James' eyes before their normal looks of ignorance returned to their features.
"So? It's not like it's doing anyone any harm." James said, just as the common room entrance slammed closed. Lily stood in front of it, red with anger as she stared at James who suddenly paled considerably.
