"I've been told,
that if you repeat a word,
over and over,
it loses its meaning.
I have stayed up
countless nights
repeating your name
hoping that you will mean less to me with every breath,
but nothing changes. "
(this chapter gets a little boring when they talk about the ankle surgery, but bear with me :)
"So are you gonna go cheer your team on tonight?" Klay asks as he sits down next to me on the couch. "You know, since you cant play yet, and you're getting surgery."
I rolled my eyes, and take a sip out of my coffee mug. "yeah captain obvious. And I already called my coach and told her." I set down the cup. "You want to come with me to my ankle appointment? Oh and I have my concussion check up later too. I kinda need a ride, since I'm not allowed to drive yet."
he nods. "Yeah I'm up for that. What time are we leaving?"
I look up at the clock above the tv. "Umm..now?"
Klay chuckles. "Alright, lets go then." He says, trying to help me reach my crutches through my constant protests saying, "I can do it myself."
We step outside, where I see Klay's car parked terribly in front of my home, half of it on the sidewalk.
"Jeez Klay." I laugh as we near the car. "You really did a number on the sidewalk. Next time, dont try to murder it." I say as I take a seat on the passenger seat.
"Well what do you expect me to do when you call me at three o'clock in the morning, screaming "Klay get here quick! It's an emergency!?" He mocks, chuckling. "I thought you were hurt."
"It was an emergency!" I defend myself, laughing my ass off because it could have waited.
"The tv remote is not an emergency." He belts out a laugh, looking over at me before starting the car.
I raise my hands in mock surrender. "Well, I needed to watch the next episode of spongebob, but I left the remote all the way down the steps and-"
"wait..hold up-spongebob?" He laughs, looking at me, and then drives off the sidewalk. "You're twenty-six."
"Yes. You got a problem with that?" I scoff playfully. "I know I'm like, five years old, but I'ts actually a cute show. You should watch it." Klay shakes his head at me, laughing, while paying attention to the road. "Why not? My favorite episode is when spongebob curses about every second, and the bleep it out with-"
"dolphin sounds!" Klay laughs as we stop at a red light.
"You do watch it!" I joke, pointing a finger to his chest.
"Only because its the only thing on in the morning!"
"Liar."
"Bitch."
"Shitface."
He laughs loudly, directing his attention back to the road as the light turns green. "Thats it. I'm done." He chuckles. "this is why you're my best friend. You are just so.."
I raise an eyebrow, and klay shrugs. "Well I dont know, So..hilarious and adorable, but I swear you're five, nice example by the way, and I just love you for you."
