"James, what happened?" I asked.

"All you need to know is it's taken care of now. " He said. He knew that stressing me out wouldn't help anything.

"Where is Emma..?" I was almost too scared to ask.

"Alice, she didnt make it.." James replied. I felt my heart shatter. She can't be gone. I barely even said hi to her when I saw her this morning. I never told her how much she means to me. She will never know that I loved her like a sister. She will never know the impact she made on my life.

"I love you, James. You saved my life. I wouldn't be talking to you right now without your help." I told him. I needed to make sure he knows how much he means to me. Who knows how long I will have him for.

"I love you too, Alice. I wasn't just going to let you die." He said.

"Damn right you weren't." Someone said. We looked over to see Greg being rolled into the room in a wheelchair.

"Don't you dare think about blaming me for this Greg. " James joked.

"Thank you, James- for saving her. I lost one of you kids.. I'm not going to lose another." He said.

"How are you feeling, Greg?" I asked.

"Oh, don't worry about me kiddo. How are you feeling?" He asked.

"I've been better." I said. I took a moment toreally look at Greg. I could tell he was tired, emotionally and physically. He had been through so much in such a short amount of time.

"I'm going to tell the doctor you're awake." Luke said. We all sat in silence. It wasn't an awkward silence but a we are going to just take in life right now.

"How are you feeling today, Alice?" The doctor asked.

"I'm okay. I'm having some trouble moving my hand." I explained.

"You have some nerve damage." The doctor told me. "It could be permanent, it could get better. It's hard to tell." He said. I nodded and looked down at my hand. So many things are going wrong. I just need something to go right for once.

"Where's my mom?" I asked.

"We called her but she didn't answer," James said. "We left a voicemail but that was a few hours ago." He explained.

"Oh.. Alright. She's probably just stuck in traffic.." I said. I tried to believe myself but it was hard.

"Hey kid, don't be too hurt over this. You know your mom loves you." Greg said. I nodded and smiled.

"I need everyone to leave for a moment. We need to do a few tests on Alice." The doctor said. They all left without a word. They had me do stretches and lift things. I struggled a lot with it. They said I would have to go to physical therapy every week in order to get better.

"Everything will be alright, Alice." The doctor said. I thanked him.

"Will I be able to go home today?" I asked.

"You will have to wait a few hours but yes you will." He said before leaving. I sat in silence and looked at the ceiling. I don't know why I was hoping for my mom to be here. She's probably off doing something more important. Maybe she didn't even listen to the voicemail. Maybe the voicemail didn't send. I don't know. I just miss her a lot.

Slowly, everyone came back into the room. We talked about what happened in the past two years. We talked about show ideas. Everything seemed to be getting back to normal. That's just what I need.. Normal.
