I devoured that sandwich in a split second. I felt satisfied at the feeling of being full so I decided to stay at the shop and look out the window, counting all the punch buggies that passed. My father and I played the traditional game where you'd playfully punch each other if the stylish car had been spotted. He was dead now. I shook my head lightly to get the thought out of my head. But when that thought went, the thought of Shawn came.

Was he really just a stranger? Maybe he meant something to me because he's actually the first person I've talked to in a year. It was fun to be able to talk to someone again. And maybe I wanted to talk to him once more.

I stood up to throw my trash away and I headed out the shop, a light ring of a bell signaled my departure.

The air was chilly and crunchy, warm colored leaves scattered the pavement.

"It's fall" I assumed, scanning the evident scenery of the lovely season as I spun in tiny circles. The sweet smell of the autumn air made me smile and I hadn't noticed until I heard a small giggle escape my parted lips. As soon as I heard myself, I stopped in utter shock. Did I just laugh? Just from this little action I found myself in a crisis of how much I was changing. But I wasn't because when I looked down and saw my worn down sneakers I remembered the life I was given.

I let out a small sigh and take one small glance at the tress that were vibrant of different shades of oranges, reds, and yellows. Besides the trees, I saw a white van parked along the curb. The road was now empty and it was just the van and I.

I don't know about you but there's something about white vans that give me the chills going down my spine. For this particular van, it wasn't just the van that was scary, the driver looked terrifying. His big, almost yellow eyes were just like the ones of an owl. Looking at him was like looking at a surveillance camera: you knew he was watching you. His lips were non existent like his hair and a tattoo of some sort stretched out on the side of his face.

All of a sudden, the van sped up towards me and my first instinct was to get the hell out of there. So that's what I did. I ran for my life not even knowing what was happening. My scurrying legs took me to a hidden curb where it looked safe enough to hide. My lungs burned and I was huffing and panting since my lean and fragile body wasn't built for running anymore.

I felt safe. At least I thought I was. A hand as big as my whole face covered my mouth and my legs went kicking the air. I felt someone tying a rope around my ankles and my wrists. The ropes were digging into my skin from the tightness and with every toss or turn I'd feel it burn deeper into my skin. Everything was happening too quickly for me to even process anything so all I could do was scream but they were all muffled due to the cigarette scented hand covering my mouth. I felt a sharp pain in my arm that was identical to a bee sting? No, a needle? I couldn't find out what it was since at that moment, I had blacked out.

"What are we gonna do with her?"

"Whatever he wants us to do with her."

"Who is she anyway?"

"I have no idea but this is who he wanted."

My thoughts started to regain itself because I heard myself asking "Who is he?", "What is about to happen to me?" and "How many people are in this room right now?".

I am fully awake now but I do not want to open my eyes to the fear of what might happen if I do. I hear a couple of pairs of feet walking out a creaky door.

My eyes stung when I opened them ever so slightly. I examined my surroundings with a blur in my vision. Whatever that was put into my body was the still there because I was feeling a little nauseous.

I was handcuffed to an iron bed, sitting on a thin white mattress that didn't have any purpose. My hands were trembling causing the handcuffs to rattle against the iron headboard. I tried to cease the noise but my hands wouldn't stop the shaking. Terrified, I squirmed my legs around and felt an immediate sore pain run through the veins of my legs. Nothing was happening and the silence in this dull room was haunting me.

The door in front of me flew open and two very tall and muscular men walk in the room with a mischievous look on their face, knowing that I'm awake. One of the two guys were in that van earlier but the other one...I seemed to recognize him. He was tall. He was scary. He had stringy hair frame his skinny and bony face as his eyes had a story to tell. I couldn't help think that he was the murder of my mother. The mother I loved so dearly.

Tears brimmed my eyes. I could tell they could see the horror stricken expression on my face because they started snickering in a horrifying sync.

"Don't be scared little girlie. You should stop shaking, the rattling is starting to get on my nerve." The bald headed guy spatted at me.

I couldn't say anything for their was a strip of silver duck tape stuck to my mouth. The guy with stringy hair stepped closer to me. With every step he took, my heart pace picked up. At this point, his face was in mine and in one quick motion he ripped the duck tape off of my mouth. It stung but the sweat dripping on my face broke down the stickiness of the tape causing less pain.

"Hey, what should I do with-" a very familiar voice called.

I turned my head to the voice and Shawn was standing at the door. He was a bolt from the blue. We shared the same dumbfounded look and inside my chest was a tornado of feelings. What in gods name is Shawn doing here?

"H-hey who is she? What are you gonna do to her?" Shawn croaked, never breaking eye contact with me.

"We don't know who she is. I dunno Shawn, what should we do with her?" The bald one asked, full of tease as he rubbed his hands like he was arranging my death in his head.

"Well, if you had no purpose to kidnapping her maybe uh l-let her go?"

"Shawn, we never do that." The guy with stringy hair laughed, exposing his yellow and gruesome teeth. Secrets were slowly being revealed as to Shawn being a part of this gang.

"Why is she here?" Shawn asked, finally breaking our eye contact, a sudden discomfort took place in my existence.

"This is what we were assigned to do Shawn. Now, you do you."

"You've have had to got the wrong girl!" Shawn exclaimed almost in a begging manner.

"Listen lover boy, we don't take commands from you. We take commands from him." The stringy haired guy said, coming my way and giving me an unexpected slap on the face.

I yelped in pain and without any warning tears were rushing down my cheeks. I glanced over at Shawn and I stared into his sorrowful eyes with agony and weakness. He bit his lip, not knowing what to do.

At that moment, Shawn forcefully ran into the stomach of the bald headed figure as he fell back with utter surprise. The guy mutters to himself, clenching onto his stomach as he lays there on the ground. The other guy is seen at the corner of my eye, ready to swing at Shawn with his ring covered fist.

"Shawn!!" I warn as it was already too late and Shawn was hit in the face. The force knocked his blood and sweat into the air. He stumbled on his feet and when he found his balance, Shawn kicked his ankle causing him to fall down. That obviously wasn't enough to keep him there. Shawn took a bat and hit him many times in the head until he fell unconscious.

It was odd, seeing this friendly figure be so aggressive. It scared me.

Shawn came flying to me, blood still gushing down the side of his carefully carved face. He had a gun in his hand and shot the chains of the handcuff, letting me free. Shawn grabbed my hand with so much aggression as we both fled out of that building faster then I could progress anything at the moment. Wind was blowing through my hair and my feet stumbled a few times but he would never let go of my hand.

Where were we going? I do not know.
