Mario POV
Stepping out of the shower I got dressed and left the house before Lauren came back in the room from eating breakfast.
Unlocking the car door my phone began vibrating.
"Sup?" I said into the phone while opening the car door.
"Hey boo."
Sighing I slipped into the car. "Yeah?" I asked annoyed.
"I'm at the shop waitin' on you. Where you at?" I could hear the smile in her voice.
"I'm on my way." I said disconnecting the call.
Driving in the direction of the shop I got there in no time.
Walking through the door I dapped Black.
"Where she at?"
Nodding his head towards the back I started in that direction.
Walking through the door my eyes landed on Ines.
"Hey baby." She said standing up from the couch making her way over to me.
"Where the work?" I asked getting to the point.
Since my falling out with Alaina I had to have my next chick cook it up for me.
"You act like you not happy to see me." She said licking her lips.
I wasn't on that with her. I was actually trying to stay faithful for the first time in my life.
"I'm not." I said nonchalantly.
"Don't be like that baby."
Ines was attractive but she wasn't wifey material.
She stood as tall as five foot six with milk chocolate skin.
I wasn't much of a breast man but she had breast for days and they looked right on her.
She began fidgeting with my belt buckle and I removed her hand.
"I'm not fuckin' wit you--where the work at?"
"So that's how you gon do me?" She asked annoyed.
Fed up with her mouth I grabbed her around the neck.
"That's yo problem, you play too fuckin much--where's my shit."
She began grabbing at my arm and I released my hold on her causing her to fall to the floor.
Gasping for air she hit herself on the chest.
"Teddy got it." She said coughing.
"Why you didn't get it before you came here?" I asked ready to shoot her.
My product was going through too many hands. That's how niggas got popped off nowadays, this bitch knew betta than that.
Making a mental note I yanked her up from the floor.
"Why Teddy got my shit?"
"My house got raided the other day and I needed somewhere to stash it."
"You bet not be settin me up." I said pointing at her.
A frightened look came over her face.
"I wouldn't do that to you baby."
Annoyed I turned towards her.
"Cool out on all that baby shit too--you know I don't like that."
She ran her hands through her hair.
"We gotta go to the mall. That's where Teddy's at with the work."
My stomach started to churn. It felt like she was setting me up.
Taking a minute to drown in my thoughts I started towards the exit.
"Let's go."
Following behind me we walked through the shop towards the exit.
I unlocked the car doors and got in.
Not many words were exchanged while we were on our way to the mall.
Ines sat in the passenger's seat scrolling through her phone.
"Who you textin'?"
She briefly looked up from her phone at me.
"Can I text my mom?" She asked rolling her eyes.
This bitch was getting beside herself. The quicker I got my work the sooner I was going to eliminate her ass.
Pulling into the parking lot we got out of the car walking into the mall.
As soon as we reached the top level of the floor my eyes landed on Lauren leaving the store when Teddy grabbed her wrist saying a few words before letting go.
My blood started to boil as we came closer.
"Rio what up?" Teddy said dapping me. "What up lil mama." He said to Ines pulling her into a hug.
"Hey." She smiled.
Lauren looked at me with rage in her eyes.
"Really Mario?" She asked pushing me.
"It's not what it look like." I said grabbing her forearm.
"So what is it?" She frowned.
"I'm not fuckin wit that girl--stop makin a scene." I said still holding her. "You think I would do you like that?"
Lauren pulled away from me.
"I don't know what you would do." She said shaking her head. "You show up here wit this bitch."
"What?" Ines asked with attitude.
Lauren opened her mouth to speak but I interjected by holding her back.
"Ines, go handle what you came here to do."
Rolling her eyes she disappeared into the back of the store with Teddy.
"Would you calm down? I'm not on shit wit her--you gotta start trustin' me bae."
She looked at me cautiously.
"Why are you here wit her?"
I hesitated before responding.
"Business."
Rolling her eyes she crossed her arms over her chest.
"What business?" Her nose began to flare.
"I'll explain it to you later."
Shaking her head she went through her purse pulling out her car keys.
I could see in her face she was pissed.
Without saying another word she walked off.
"Lauren!" I called after her but she kept walking.
Pissed, my eyes landed on Ines as she came back with a bag.
"You need to check yo bitch." She said while handing the bag to me and rolling her eyes.
This bitch just don't learn I thought while snatching the bag from her causing her to flinch.
"Watch yo fuckin' mouth." I said before looking in the bag.
Teddy made his way over to us.
"That's yo girl?" He asked.
Closing the bag I directed my attention to him.
"Yeah--nigga I bet not ever see you puttin' yo hands on her again--."
"My fault Rio. I ain't know." He said trying to right his wrong. "She bad though."
Punching him in the mouth he stumbled backwards into a rack of clothes.
I just warned this nigga.
"Rio!" Ines screamed trying to help him up.
I went for my gun but remembered where I was and decided against it.
Ines was seconds away from getting one in her too.
"You didn't have to hit him." She said mugging me.
"Shut up bitch." I said grabbing the bag and heading towards the exit.
Getting in the car I tossed the bag into the back seat before starting the car and pulling off.
My intentions were to go to back to my Mom's house to settle things with Lauren but I had to check on a few things.
Pulling up to the trap Doughboy stood outside on his phone.
As I got out of the car he walked up dapping me while ending his call.
"What up foolie--how's lil dude?" He asked referring to CJ.
Nodding my head I assured him everything was cool.
Doughboy was my nigga but I still didn't feel comfortable telling him about CJ not being mine.
Dropping the conversation I pulled the work from the back seat handing it to him.
"Who cooked it up?" He asked looking in the bag.
"I had Ines do it."
A smile came over his face.
"Nah, I'm done wit shorty. Lauren was about to tag her ass earlier."
His facial expression turned into shock.
"Whaaaat?" He finally said.
Closing the car door we made our way into the house and I explained the story to him.
He dropped the bag on top of an old wooden table letting some of its contents fall out.
"So what you want me to do wit this?" He asked as he pulled a blunt from his pocket lighting it up.
"I need it broken down."
Doughboy nodded his head in acceptance while holding the blunt out to me.
"I'm good bro--you know I don't smoke." I said turning him down.
Smiling he took another pull from the blunt and slowly exhaled.
"I was just testin' yo ass."
Looking at my watch I noticed I had to move around.
"Handle that." I said pointing to the work on the table. "Hit my line when it's done."
He nodded his head and I left the house heading towards my car.
Seconds later I was pulling up to my house.
Parking in the driveway I got out making my way to the front door.
It had been awhile since I was at my own home.
Opening the door I stepped inside closing it behind me.
The house looked the same as I left it minus the plastic hanging from the ceiling.
The remodeling crew had finished the house and it was a matter of time before I moved back in.
Walking upstairs to the master bedroom I flicked on the light switch before walking in to make my way towards the dresser.
Pulling out the top drawer I reached towards the back grabbing a safe.
Typing in the code the door popped open allowing me access to it.
Slipping two stacks into my pocket I closed it and placed it back.
Leaving the house I drove to the shop.
Parking the car I noticed Lauren's car in front of the building.
Resting my head on the head rest I pulled my phone off of the car charger texting Black.
He replied within seconds.
"She mad as hell." I read out loud.
Blowing out a deep breath I opened the car door stepping from it.
Making my way across the busy street I prepared myself for the argument I knew was coming.
Walking through the door Black sat in a barber chair while Lauren sat across from him.
"What's good?"
Lauren looked at me and rolled her eyes while standing up from her seat and walking to the back.
"Here we go." I said to myself.
Black smirked.
Shaking my head I followed after her.
"You gon talk to me?" I asked as I walked into the room.
She sat on the let-out couch.
"Why is everything a secret wit you?"
Taking my fitted cap off I began rubbing my hand over my waves.
"I've been open wit you. Don't do that.
Sighing she looked at me.
"Is she your girlfriend?" She asked softly.
I could see she was hurt.
"She's just a girl I got workin' for me--you the only one that got that title shorty.
I meant every word and motioned for her to come to me.
Hesitantly she stood to her feet.
"I just want you to be able to trust me like how I trust you."
Grabbing her hand I pulled her to me
"Stop givin' me reasons not to." She said. "I shouldn't see you with any girls."
"You won't anymore." I assured her.
Kissing her forehead I led her back towards the front of the shop.
Black sat on his phone watching YouTube videos.
"Y'all made up?" He asked glancing up from his phone smirking.
"Somethin like it--I know she still mad though."
"Y'all too damn cute." Black joked and Lauren chuckled. "You've changed Rio!" Black said while frowning.
"You ready to go?" I asked Lauren while waving Black off.
He laughed as he brought his phone up to his ear indicating he had a incoming call.
"You don't think you gettin' in the Range do you?" Lauren asked raising her eyebrow.
"Damn, I can't ride wit you shorty?"
Smiling she headed towards the door. "I'm still mad."
Dapping Black I followed her outside.
Putting my arm around her I quickly spotted a black car with dark tints sitting in front of the shop.
"We should--" She began to say as she went through her purse.
"Go back inside." I said cutting her off and pushing her back inside.
Barely making it to the door I used my body to shield her as gunshots filled the air causing glass to shatter everywhere.
All I could hear was screams and the car took off down the street.
Black ran out of the shop looking down the streets.
"What the fuck?" He asked helping me up. "I thought we took care of that beef."
Bending down I helped Lauren up.
"You okay?" I asked pulling her into a tight hug.
Tears fell uncontrollably from her eyes.
"Who was that?" Black asked again.
Lauren pulled from my arms. I could see she was scared as hell.
Wiping the tears from her face I kissed her cheek. "I'm sorry." I apologized.
I knew this was my fault and I'd put her in danger.
Turning around I looked at the damage that was done to my shop.
Shaking my head I grabbed Lauren's hand leading her towards her car.
"I need you to go home."
Her eyes widened as she looked at me.
"What? You need to come too." She said nearly in tears.
By this time the police were pulling up.
"I gotta handle this--." I sighed while holding the car door open for her.
"Mario--." She frowned.
"Baby trust me, I'm good."
Giving me an unsure look she got into the car.
Closing the door she started the car and pulled off.
"Are you the owner?" An officer asked walking up to me.
"Yeah."
"Do you mind telling me what happened here?"
"I don't talk to cops." I said walking away from him and towards my car.
The officer looked at me dumbfounded.
I didn't need the law to handle this. I knew who I needed to get at.
