Clarissa's POV
-
I get into school, my chest pounding hard and my mouth not able to form any sentences.
Last night, my parents got into a severe car crash, and they have been in the hospital ever sense. When I visited last night, they were in the worst possible condition, to where I wasn't even allowed in the same room as them.
After about six hours of just sitting in the waiting room, they had finally told me that it was better if I just went home, and now here I was, entering my school, waiting upon a phone call or message of some sort from the hospital.
After about ten minutes of trying to calm down, I finally regain myself and I walk into first period. I push my glasses up a bit, so they wouldn't fall off ad I set my bag down next to my seat, which I have chosen to be in the first row.
Right smack dead in the center.
No one ever chose to sit next to me and I was grateful.
I glance around the room until my eyes land on Carter.
He was so dreamy, I thought.
Not.
I chuckle to myself, turning back around in my seat, and watching as the teacher, Mr. Wither, our English teacher, clears his throat.
"Class, today is a free day so you are more than welcome to do what you need. I have to catch up on my grading" Mr. Wither tells us, before heading back to his desk, off in the corner of the front of the room.
Once he sits, the room turns into a big mess of noise and laughter, while I sat silently in my chair.
I sigh, realizing I have to study for my quiz for science.
Even though I already am a nerd, I can't really study on my own, like it never sticks in my brain.
My mother used to always help me study. I cringed slightly at the thought of her.
I really hope they are okay.
I glance around the room, looking for someone that might be able to help me study, but I sigh again, realizing that no one would want to help a nerd like me.
I really did wish I had friends.
Or a friend.
I sit back in my chair, huffing and looking back at the study guide that was sitting effortlessly on my desk.
I try and study but I sigh, for the third time today, giving up. I glanced down at my outfit.
I was wearing a casual navy blue graphic tee, along with some black skinny jeans and my white converse all stars.
I wasn't really the girly-girl, if you couldn't tell.
"Woah, the nerd can't study?" I hear a fake surprised gasp from behind me.
I roll my eyes, already recognizing the voice.
The one and only, Carter Woods.
I turn slightly to face a smirking Carter, standing right behind me.
I turn back around in my seat, not saying a word.
"Ooh, shocker" I mumble after a few minutes, loud enough so he could hear.
I hear him rudely chuckle and I sigh again, adjusting my light grey beanie.
I decide to pull out my phone and check for any phone calls and my eyes widen in shock.
5 missed calls from "Hospital"
2 voicemails. "Hospital" and "Mom"
My face screams horror as I stare down at the screen in my hands.
I was about to press play on the voice mails but my phone is snatched out of my hand.
I glare up at Carter, trying to grab it back but failing, as he already has the phone pulled up to his ear, as he listens to the messages.
After about two minutes, he hands me my phone back, and then he walks away.
I manage to catch a glimpse at his expression, and something tells me that nothing good happened, which made me really, really scared.
