Sigmar stepped sideways and swung his sword with all his might, But when he expected the sword to rip  through the beast his flesh it just didn't.  The blade hit the neck of the beast and it just broke cleanly. The sound that followed wasn't one of pain but one of pure anger. The hit hadn't even wounded the beast, not even a tiny scratch. But now the rage was clearly visible in his eyes, he snapped at Sigmar and he just nearly evaded it. But the next one came unexpectedly fast and the teeth tore into his left shoulder. The pain was almost unbearable, hurting like nothing he had ever experienced before, he managed to break free of the grasp of the beast. The only safe place safe would be out of the reach of the beast's maw and so with the next lunge of the beast Sigmar took hold of the neck and swung himself on the back of the beast. The beast started to jump around as if it had been driven mad with Sigmars touch. It kept rampaging and spinning around increasingly fast, Sigmar didn't know how long he would be able to keep hanging on with his shoulder wounded like this and the blood pouring out faster than he would like.

Sigmar knew he was not going to win this contest of strenght nor of will so he did the last thing he would be able to before letting go of the beast. He channeled his last sparks of hope, courage and love for his people into a prayer to the light. " O divine spirit and deity that is the Light, hear my plea on this last moment of hope. If i fail i want my men to bring me back to my home and leave this magnificent beast alone. I was foolish to defy this champion of nature itself and bought the price with my own blood. I will gladly give my life to ensure my men get back home. They got wives and some of them kids, and i do not have any of this gifts of life, so take me and let me become another beacon of the light. Take me in..." Sigmar couldn't go on. His grip failed him and he flew of the horse with such a force he almost lost conciousness immediatly. "Time has come for me to go " he whispered, but something was wrong, the beast was calming down. As quickly as the rampage started the beast calmed down. Had the light itself prevented this or was it toying with his prey?

Something in the eyes of the beast had changed, it was like he had understood what Sigmar had been saying in his prayer. The beast was moved and decided to spare him or so it seemed. But Sigmars heart knew he wouldn't be able to get back to the village on his own strenght. The horse seemed to understand this also and laid himself next to Sigmar so he could crawl on it's back. When Sigmar was finally on its back the beast stood up and unfolded his majestic wings, it was going to take flight. But the wound was stronger and then the beast started to run and took off. Darkness started to take over Sigmars sight and he slowly slipped in what seemed an eternal night from which he would not wake .

The sound of water dripping of a roof on a wooden floor was the first thing there was to hear. Slowly light and colours started to flow back into existence while Sigmar's eyes were opening back up. Slowly but surely the blurred vision started to melt into shapes and he was hearing voices. But he also heard hoof noices and when he looked to his right he looked into the dark blue eyes of the beast who almost ended his life but also saved it. His trusted lieutenant was standing on the other side of the bed. He was pale, his face looked completly drained of all blood but you could see the relief in his eyes when he saw his prince waking up. "What happened ?"Sigmar asked him. "You have to tell us my lord. We saw the beast flying straight to us and we all readied our weapons until we realised it was carrying you. It refused to let us take you of it and so it entered the inn with you on his back and laid down near this bed. It allowed us to put you in the bed and to tend your wounds. But the beast never left your side." The lieutenant was clearly shocked from what he had seen and asked the prince what happend after he had left him on the river bank. The prince told his men what transpired and how the beast had easlily gotten the best of him. One of the scouts left the inn after the story and went to the river bank to recover the broken sword of the prince.

The next few days the prince felt his strenght flowing back in his left arm as the wound was slowly healing. The prince felt it was time to go back to the capital to heal further and he felt fit enough to travel. but when i wanted to leave the inn he had an odd companion waiting for him at the front of the inn. The winged horse was waiting for him and he petted the horse its head. The beast had chosen him to ride him and after hesitating a little bit Sigmar finally put al of his doubts aside and mounted the beast. The concerned lieutenant asked:  "Are you sure my lord you want to do this? Your horse is in the stable and can take you home safe. " But Sigmar felt this would become his steed. This was his new companion. This would become the steed he'd travel the world with. Sigmar looked at his  lieutenant and told him and the other members of the royal party :"Men! Meet my new steed and new loyal friend, Invincible!" The horse heard his new name for the first time and knew it was time to go.

It unfolded his great wings, started to run on the road and jumped straight into the air and started beating his ghostly white wings. Sigmar could not believe this was happening but this time he was not dreaming or losing consciousness. He was truly flying, below him he heard his men shouting his name as if they witnessed a miracle. And again Sigmar knew this was like years ago when he met Shandra, this was another step to showing the humans of Lordemar there was more to the world than humanity. This was his dream coming another step closer of becoming reality.

His men went on on foot without their prince. Sigmar was flying home and wondered what the reaction would be of his father the King. He flew onwards to let his destiny unfold and wondering how the world would react to his new accomplishment. one no one would be able to deny like they did with his meeting with Shandra. People will Know this was only the beginning. Soon the whole world will have no more secrets for him or his people.
