Preface

He’s here.

I hear him before I see him; hear his laugh as it catches the wind, the creaking of the floorboards. I pull my old duvet around me gripping it tightly. I suppose I should’ve been used to it by now.

I wasn’t. I would never get used to it. The door creaks open and I see him standing there his shadow casting against the wall. A shiver goes up my spine; I lie back in bed motionless with fear. My muscles tense as he walks towards me snarling hungrily, my eyes widen with fear.

He bends down over me his tongue licking at my neck, whispering cruel, hurtful things in my ear. I whimper shaking with fear. He lowers his head and clamps his teeth around my neck. Pain shoots through me and I clutch at the sides of the bed feeling my grip get weaker and weaker. He’s sucking the life out of me.

“Stop,” He freezes letting go of my neck. A boy is stood in the window, his dark hair wild in the wind his dark brown eyes fierce with anger. His presence calms me, I know it shouldn’t, but it does. My attacker backs off towards the wall cursing. The boy comes up to me and runs a slender finger down my sore neck.

Suddenly blackness encircles me. It’s everywhere and I can’t escape, I tremble. It engulfs me.

Then everything goes black.
