Layne's P.O.V.

Today when I first saw Skyler, it was like love at first sight type deal. I've never believed that sort of thing until I saw her in the hall eating lunch by herself. She's so pretty. I wonder what she's like... "Hey so you know Devin, right? The one you said you were pretty?" I asked her. "Yea... Why?" she asked, "Because when he said that, it was a total understatement. Babe, you're obnoxiously GORGEOUS!" I practically yelled. Frank, the kid next to me said, " Yea. Babe, you smokin!" "I really mean it though.You are beautiful. So what do ya say? Wanna go out sometime? Oh. And by the way... the name's Layne." I wink at her. I asked hoping, praying so hard that she says yes. Please please please.... PLEASE say yes. God her eyes are so pretty SHE'S so pretty. She kills me! "Sure. Why not?" she says. My lord she's gonna kill me with those eyes and her face and just her whole being! She's so beautiful when she smiles. Her eyes smile with her lips. I have to go to art now. Ugh... Sam's in that class... She's going to be so... Sam-like... Ugh... this isn't going to be fun for anybody. Especially for Sky, I think. So I go into the classroom and take a seat. Sam comes into the room with one of her followers. She sees me and sits down right next to me. I groan to myself so she doesn't hear me.That kid Ryan comes in with Sky behind him. I hate how he's on the welcoming committee. I mean, I don't want to be  on it, but why can't a girl be on it rather than only him? I mean, she's my girl, I'm gonna take a lot of pride in that. "Hey, Sky?! Come sit over here!" I shout and wave her over. I shoot a short little glare at Ryan. He doesn't notice. "Ew. What do you want HER for?" Sam asked me. I wanted to just smack her right then and there just for being that nasty. "Nice to see you too, Lil' Miss Smiley." she said to Sam. I chuckled softly enough so no one could hear. "Well Sam..." I say shooting her with a death glare I'd been saving especially for her, "She's my girlfriend." I look over at Skyler Fey and smile at her. I still can't believe it. I'm in love with this girl I barely know. She's blushing now. She's so adorable. "Why? Is there something wrong with me? I was going to...Ugh! But I can't now because YOU had to step in and live here! Ugh! I HATE you, you stupid god d-" she was saying to Skyler, till I got pissed at her even more and said, "Listen, Sam, there are other guys that go to this school, ya know. I'm not perfect. I hate to admit it, but it's true. I'm not. I mean yea... I'm the best looking guy in this school, and the smartest, and the funniest, and the most athletic, and so on and so forth, but I'm not perfect." I said being a showoff and being cocky which all in all is the same thing to me. Whatever. "No kidding." said Ryan,  who is usually so quiet. That made me a bit mad, "Ah... what do you know, Emo? Nothing. That's what." Sam said. Even though what Ryan said bit hard, Sam was being extremely bitchy. "Hey. Why do you have to be so mean to everybody, huh? He didn't do anything to you, so leave him the hell alone, you stupid bitch." Sky said that brought a smile to my face. No one ever stood up to the queen bee. "Hey, Sky. Why don't you shut the fuck up?", "Hey, Sam. Why don't you go to talk a therapist? Fix up whatever the hell is wrong up there in your tiny little head? Maybe then you could get yourself a boyfriend." Derek, one of my several friends snapped back at her. I guess he knows how amazing my girl is to me. Sam stormed out of the room and Alice followed her as usual. We're in tenth grade. Doesn't she know how to use the bathrooom by herself yet? No. Probably not. Everybody stared at Sky. "What? Do I have something on my face?" She asked. Mer... she's killing me.... she's so pretty and adorable and cute. "No. We've just never seen anybody stand up to her before... she's like the queen bee. By the way my name's Jade." Jade said. "I'm as you heard Sky... so... anyway..." Sky responded, "There's another reason why I asked you out Sky. You defend people even if you don't know them. You are a great person." I said, I love her. Did I make that official? I need to have an official stamp and stamp her and my hand right now.... if that's possible.... "Thanks. There's another reason I said yes. You're a great person, too, even if you don't know it." She said her voice soft and low. "So sweet." I said. I guess she heard me because she started to blush."Okay... students go get a box from the cabinet. Layne, could you show Skyler around the room?" "Kay. I will. Come on babe. This is the cabinet..." I showed her around and I could tell that she wasn't paying attention. I didn't say anything about it. So I droned on and on about the class. I really don't blame her for not listening. It's pretty boring. I mean Yay! Classroom! More like Fuck the class! Let's skip it! Anyway... I was kinda thinking about asking her out to the dance, but I'm so nervous that she'll say no or something... Screw it! We're dating so she'll probably say YES! "So, Sky... Do ya wanna go to a dance on Friday?" I asked trying to make it so it didn't seem as if I were pleading. "Sure. But I promised Devin I'd save him a dance... so... I'm going to save him a dance, okay?" She said, that's when I got all over-protective. "Yea. That's fine. Only one dance.You're my girl. Only mine. I mean you can look at other guys and be friends with them. But nothing more than just friends. I trust you. With everything I got in me. I... I  think I... I might love you already.." Did I really say that? That was a stupid move. Jesus, she's gonna thhink that this is going to fast and crap, which it is, but it's true. I love her. Very much and if anything bad ever happened to her... I will hurt someone... If she hurts herself, I will kill myself. Wow. That was REALLY deep especially for me. I'm NEVER deep. "I think I might love you too." She said. I looked down at her. Well I have no choice I'm taller than a lot of people. We looked into each other's eyes. I started to lean toward her more and more and we were about to kiss til Ryan had to interupt us. God damn it! So close! I looked at Sky again and she looked kind of I think disappointment on her face! That for some happy reason makes me obviously happy! She wanted to kiss me! Ha ha! This is going well. "Hey Sky thanks for sticking up for me back there." Ryan said. I think he was glaring at me. Does he have a crush on Sky too? I don't blame him, but still, my girl. I glare back. "You're welcome." Skylar and I glance at each other knowing the moment was over. "Mm... well that was the art room." I said keeping the annoyance out of my voice. "Yep it is..." The bell rang and we had to go so I gave Sky a quick kiss on the cheek since that moment before was over and I had really wanted to kiss her. She giggled and it was so adorable when she did. Only two more classes til I see Sky again. Thank God! I had English now. In English I sat in my desk and zoned out. Then someone was tapping on my shoulder. It was Devin. "Hey. What's up?" I asked. "Oh. Nothing. Just that" and he got really close to my face and said, "I want Skyler." and then he put his hand in a fist and punched his other hand. "No. Sorry she's taken I don't care what you say. You don't scare me. You could be stronger looking, but you aren't so bye." I said. He is bigger and stronger than me, but I'm smarter and smaller so I'm faster. He turned and walked away. No one's getting her. Finally the class was over and it was the last class of the day. I went to look for Skyler by her locker. I found her and Sam fighting, well Sam was fighting and being stupid and Sky was retorting her insults. When Sam started to hit her and tried to choke her Sky bit her.  When Sam hit her again I came out room behind the wall because I finally got fed up. I mean I was fed up before, just I couldn't stand there watching anymore. "Sam! What the hell are you doing to my baby?! Leave her the hell alone!" I screamed at her. "Huh? What? No! I didn't do anything! You're supposed to be gone!" She said starting to sweat a little, "... I mean... Hey there...." she said awkwardly, so I shouted at her, "Shut up Sam! Just stop! I'm sick of... you. Just you. You make me sick." I grabbed Sky's waist to kind of make Sam even more jealous. "Do you wanna ride? My car's in the lot." I said hoping that she'd say yes and make me happy. "Sure!" she said happily. I think she wants to make Sam jealous because Sky looked right at her and grinned and said, "Why not ride in the same car as my boyfriend. Bye Sam. Oh and thanks!" I chuckle to myself because I have a feeling on what she's gonna say next.... "For what?" Sam asks. "For embarrassing yourself in front of EVERYBODY at school today." Sky said. I was right. She did say it. Man I love her so much. "UGH!" Sam screamed and stormed to the buses. "Can you give me a ride like everyday from now on? I am on her bus, too." "Yea. No problem babe." I say giving her a messed up smile. She laughs at me. I smile a normal smile at her this time. "Oh, my Lord!" she said between laughs. "What?!" I ask even though I know why she was laughing at me. "You! You're so cute!" she exclaimed, I felt kind of awkward then and I felt heat in my cheeks. I turn around. Then I say, "Thanks. Your eyes are so cool. I love you...r your love your um... scarf." She's not wearing a scarf, you idiot. "I'm not wearing a scarf...." she says slowly. "Yea... huh! It looks like a coat, but its really a scarf!" "No its not.....It's...a...coat...." she says even slower. I feel so weird and awkward. Why can't I tell her I love her? Oh yea... because she might not feel the same way... duh... I asked the same question earlier, didn't I?
