"Watch where you're going!"
Her books clattered to the floor, papers flying everywhere and several sweets tumbling onto the ground as well.
"Oh I'm so so so sorry," he apologised profusely and she watched as the figure dropped to his knees and began picking up her stuff for her.
She knelt down as well and began to clear up the books and sweets that were closest to her.
"Oh it's - it's quite alright," she giggled as she took a sweet out of it's wrapper and popped it into her mouth. "Just please be careful next time. We wouldn't want anyone getting hurt. Especially not you."
The boy looked up at her, grinning, and she blushed slightly. He was the most handsome boy she had ever seen. His platinum blonde hair was slicked backwards, and he was wearing dark green robes, looking immaculate. But it wasn't his pale complexion or his genuine, boyish smile that captivated her.
It was his eyes.
These beautiful blue-grey eyes that bore into her soul every time he looked at her.
"Here you go," he chuckled as he handed her the books and the rest of her stuff. She smiled happily and thanked him.
"Care for a sweet?" She asked gently, holding out a toffee for him to try."
His whole expression brightened as he took the sweet from her outstretched hand.
"Thank you! What's your name?"
"Hermione, Hermione Granger," said the frizzy-haired girl.
"Draco," the boy held out a hand for her to shake, "Draco Malfoy."
8 years later
"Ouch! Watch where you're going!"
Hermione watched in despair as her papers and books scattered on the floor, several toffees bouncing onto the ground.
After the war, the students had been given a choice to come back to school. Of course, Hermione had jumped at the opportunity.
"I'm so so so sorry!" The boy apologised as he began to pick up the books.
Brushing his loose blonde bangs out of his eyes, he looked up to see the most beautiful girl in the world. Her now wavy, rather than frizzy, hair framing her delicate face and a pout resting on her soft pink lips.
He blushed a light pink colour.
"G-granger," He stuttered with a shaky breath, "Hermione Granger."
"Malfoy," Hermione tilted her head, quite perplexed about his sudden behaviour. "Draco Malfoy."
Where were the insults? The sneers? The glares?
She knelt down next to him and began to pick up the books and sweets that were closer to her.
"It-It's quite alright," she muttered as the picked her things. "Just... be careful next time. We wouldn't want anyone to get hurt."
He turned to her with a smile, a genuine smile. Not a smirk like the kind she had seen on his face every day in her life at Hogwarts. It was the genuine smile she had seen when she had bumped into him on the day she had been buying her school supplies for first year. It made him look so much handsomer, it really did.
That grin stayed on his face as he said,
"Especially not you."
She flushed red as she realised he had used the exact words from the day they had met.
He handed her her papers and she looked down, giggling at the feeling of de ja vu that washed over her.
His expression turned solemn.
"Hermione..." he trailed off.
She jerked her head upwards. He'd never called her by only her first name.
"Hermione Granger, I-I'm so sorry for being mean to you over the years. I-I never... never ever, in my entire life that i've spent knowing you, wanted it to be this way."
Her eyes became misty as she listened to him try to explain himself. He choked on the words. They were filled with so much emotion, that even he himself couldn't stop the tears from flowing.
She couldn't help herself. She took two toffees from the pile and placed her books down.
Of course the last thing he expected while he was pouring his heart out was for her to tackle him in a hug, crying into his slytherin robes. His breath hitched and he stood confused for a few moments, before wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her closer to him.
She sniffled as he looked up at him, holding a toffee out to him, pulling back slightly from their hug.
"Do-over?" She smiled, although tears were streaming down her cheeks.
He looked down at her. This beautiful girl, this _hero_! This _angel_! She was so wonderful and so pure. And she was giving _him_ a second chance. After all he had done!
"Do-over," he chuckled, the kind of relieved laugh-crying. A mix of happiness and heartbreak. He popped the toffee into his mouth and so did she. He picked up her books and carried them as they strolled hand in hand through the halls, making small talk and reminiscing about old times.
They were back to two innocent 11-year-olds and they were going to start again.
