Chapter 1
Reid POV
I held the two coffee cups close to my chest as I walked up the stairs that lead into the conference room at an agonizingly slow human pace. I noticed that JJ and Hotch were not in the conference room yet but their scent was in the building so I knew that they wouldn't be long. I opened the door with my foot being careful not to spill any of the drinks in the cups. I set one of them in front of Morgan and sat down on his left, placing my cup in front of me.
"Thanks kid." He said smiling at me and picking up the cup and taking a sip from it. JJ and Hotch came in and I tensed at the scent of a vampire. I turned around and watched as a girl about 25 walked in after them. She had dark brown curly hair that fell to her waist.
"Sorry that we are late. This is Atana-" He said before she spoke in a soft quiet voice.
"Its actually Atalanta." Came a soft voice and Hotch nodded his apology before continuing.
"This is Atalanta. She's going to be joining us on this case as a temporary part of the team. Atalanta, this is Derek Morgan, Emily Prentis, David Rossi, Spencer Reid and our technical analyst Penelope Garcia. And you have already met JJ." Hotch introduced all of us, pointing to each of us as he said our names.
"It is nice to meet you all. Hotch has told me good things about this team" She said smiling at us all individually. Hotch gestured for her to sit so she sat on Morgans right and Hotch sitting on her other side. Garcia offered her an Ipad which she took, looking at it questioningly. Morgan, seeing the confused expression on her face unlocked it for her showing her the case file. She thanked him and looked at it, reading it quickly.
"Okay, so New Orleans police have requested the help of my super crimefighters. This is Claire Dunford. She was reported missing a week ago but it could have been longer because her parents had gone away for 2weeks. They had made arrangements for her to stay at her friends, but the friend says that she never showed up and that the reason she didn't tell anyone was because she had been receiving emails from our victim. She was found this morning. M.E says that she has been dead for about 5 hours.
