After class, I happily marched out of the classroom and made my way to the lunch area. When I walked over, I saw Lily.

"Violet! Hey." I sat beside her. I was expecting that girl I made plans with to show up. I looked down at Gabby and smiled as I pulled Bren out.

"Isn't he a cutie, Gabby?" Lily laughed and tickled Brendon, waking him up. He grumbled. "Someone's in a bad mood eh?" She asked. I nodded.

"Hi." We both looked up to see the girl in my class. I asked for her name, and she looked at me like I was an algebra equation. "I am Lucy. Ugh." Lily and I laughed and watched as Lucy's face reddened. She sat beside us.

"How are we all?" I asked, patting Lucy on the back, grinning. I high fived the two girls beside me.

"Someone's in a good mood. Bipolar much," She rolled her eyes.

"Nah, I'm hiding my depression behind a smile," I said, half meaning it. Lily smiled and begun to laugh and I laughed too, because her laugh is contagious.

The girls and I hung out for a while until the bell rang. I saluted Lily goodbye and walked to class with Lucy, since we shared.

I was slumped on my chair through class. We were watching some educational video, and we didn't need to copy notes. Through HPE I played indoor soccer and dodgeball, being last on our team as usual. By lunch time, I felt pretty exhausted.

I silently walked out of the hall to go to the library. I liked it there. I love getting absorbed into my own world and extending my imagination, so at lunch I often chill there.

When I entered the library, I sat in an aisle and read a chapter of a book I like and continued an assignment. When it was time to go to class, I left the air conditioned building to bump into Lily. Literally.

"Aah!" I heard someone yell close to me. I kept walking but I turned to my left. Lily ran right into me. My eyes widened, and I grabbed her quickly. She smiled. "We have class, c'mon."

We walked together until we had to go separate ways. I laughed, realising that she was running away from Jack, a mutual friend of both of us. We parted for the rest of the day, keeping to ourselves and going to separate classes.

After a long day at school, I felt tired. But I felt this rush of excitement for some reason. I sat down on the bus and smiled at memories of a decent day. I rubbed my face with my sleeve, a habit I've always had, when I realised that my jumper smelled like Lily.

At my stop, I thanked the driver and stepped out of the bus, walking down the street to my house. I couldn't help but smell my shirt, and the conversations that we had today replayed through my mind.

I opened the front door and stepped into my damned house, seeing my sister on her laptop, mum on the phone and dad watching television.

"This generation and their technology these days," I sighed as I pulled the beanie off Daisy's head. "Sup, big sis!" I kissed her cheek.

"Go away, Violet. You're so annoying. I'm doing an assignment," She groaned, putting the beanie back on.

I tapped mum's shoulder and smiled. She looked at me, half smiling back. This family, I thought to myself as I trudged upstairs.

I collapsed on my bed, looking up at the fan. Reality faded and my worries slipped out of my head. I wondered what Lily was doing, since I didn't see her at the buses. I hoped she was alright. I inhaled her scent from my shirt one last time before I stood up, peeling it off and tugging on a different shirt.

I pulled out Bren and placed him on my bed, smiling as I ruffled his tummy.
