Remus
I looked at the girl in front of me. Her skin was pale and looked smooth, like a pearl. Her hair was black as a raven's wing and went down her back in loose curls. It was so long that she was nearly sitting on it. Her pale blue eyes were wide and she let some of her hair cover half her face in a shy way as she stared at me in shock.
"How did you know?" She whispered, sounding scared.
"Oh! I was just guessing."
She looked away and started to get up.
"Well, I guess you won't want to be in contact with something like me. Just please don't tell anyone."
"Wait! I really don't mind!" I insisted.
She started tearing up as she looked at me but her voice was clear when she spoke.
"I know what people say about me. People from my dad's work at the ministry. That I'm an abomination. A filthy half-breed. They say that a relationship between a wizard and a mermaid is wrong. I should never have been born. I understand if you don't want to associate yourself with me. Ruin yourself before the year even starts."
I suddenly felt terrible. I thought I had it bad when I was turned into a werewolf, being judged by almost everyone aware of my condition since I was five years old. This girl's father works at the ministry so practically everyone knows about her DNA and most people are probably judging her for how she was born.
"No, I really don't mind. Please stay. If it makes you feel any better, I'm a werewolf."
I expected her to get scared of me but she relaxed and sat back down.
"I'm sorry for not trusting you to be kind. You won't tell anyone about the whole mermaid thing, right?"
"Of course!" I told her. "That's what friends do. I won't tell a soul unless you want me to. You won't tell anyone about me?"
She smiled.
"Friend. I like that. No, I won't tell anyone unless you want me to."
We started exchanging stories but about halfway through the ride we were interrupted by a boy barged in and quickly slammed the door shut.
He turned to show a mane of unruly black hair, light grey eyes and a mischievous grin.
He took his time catching his breath. I looked to Nixie and could see that she was getting irritated with the new grinning boy. Of course, when seeing that, he smiled at her.
"Sirius Black, at your service sir, Milady, good sir." He said, bowing to Nixie and nodding to me.
She scoffed.
"And how would you be of service Mr. Black?"
"In anyway that you require... I'm sorry, I have yet to catch your names."
"Nixie. Nixie Dover. This is Remus Lupin. And I would be ever so grateful if you would leave."
He gave a jokingly hurt look and put a hand over his heart.
"Miss Dover, you wound me so."
Nixie only rolled her eyes. She leaned towards him, her long dark hair over her right shoulder, their faces close. Sirius smiled and started leaning forward as well...
...only for Nixie to open the door on which he was leaning causing him to sprawl out on the floor right outside the compartment at the feet of another boy.
This boy's hair was black and messy as well though shorter than Sirius's. His eyes were hazel behind round glasses and he had the same grin as Sirius that just screamed trouble.
