"Do you know how hard it is to find your dirty blood?" The man asked. "You scum think you're so special. Your blood isn't even pure."
"That's no true..." Liz struggled to get up, kicking and slipping and fighting to just stand up. She clenched her fists, as she stared at the ground. She gritted her teeth. "That's not true!"
She pushed herself towards him, but just as she stood up, he shot her side, making her fall again.
She didn't yell out of pain, since she was used to getting injured all the time.
However, her regeneration powers weren't working, and she was bleeding out. She pushed her palms against the wound, trying to slow the bleeding.
She tried to keep her breathing steady, but she couldn't stop her heart from ringing in her ears.
She was dying.
He used the syringe to pull a sample of her blood. She tried to pull her arm away, but was too weak to succeed. "Thanks to you, humans will finally become superiors. You've done well, kid." He grinned, eyes wide, as he stared at the blood sample.
"Why are you doing this?" She gritted her teeth, and clenched her fists. All of her attempts to fight back got her nowhere.
"I don't need to explain myself, but I'll give you one last thing, kid." He slowly pointed his gun at her, and she kept her eyes on him, panting. "They call me the illusionist. You deserve to know the man about to kill you, right?"
"That's a dumb name..." She muttered, and closed her eyes, as he was about to pull the trigger.
Fortunately, a knife hit his hand, making him groan in agony and drop the gun. Romeo sprinted towards him, and the illusionist quickly threw flames at him, Romeo ran through them, before punching him hard to enough to send him falling a few feet away.
"So your illusions hold no weight once they're discovered, huh?" Romeo said, pulling him by his sleeves. "How are you going to fight us now?" He angrily asked.
"What have you done to my daughter, you scum?" Jack calmly asked, but his words held a weight to them that brought fear into the illusionist's heart.
"Tsk." The illusionist looked around, to see Jack approaching Liz, but keeping his knives pointed at him. He used his hand to create some energy and hit Romeo with it, before quickly running to the window.
Romeo clutched his stomach, and while he did recover fast, and while Jack quickly threw his knifes, the man managed to jump through.
The shadow user was about to go after him, but Jack stopped him.
"Forget him. Liz is our priority right now.."
Liz could finally breathe with both the man and his device gone. Her regeneration was working again. She pushed herself up, but could only sit, since she was still healing.
Romeo bent down next to her, and put a hand on her shoulder. "Are you okay?"
"Don't touch me!" She pulled away, and hugged herself. He looked at her in worry and confusion, and moved his hand away, respect her wishes. She couldn't look at them, and only gripped her arms tighter. "I'm a demon." She confessed, and it came out as a whimper.
The two mercenaries looked at her in surprise, then at each other.
"That's... wow." The hat wearing man looked back at her in shock, trying to come with something to say.
"I know. I'm a monster. I have always been a monster..." She said, closing her eyes. "You knew it too..."
"Hey, that's not true." Romeo retorted, and was about to say something else, before Jack cut him off by kneeling down next to Liz, and resting his hand on her arm.
