my sister once had a suitor

My sister once had a suitor named Drake , a pilot. He was very persistent but at the same time an unpredictable suitor. I say unpredictable because he often stood her up and then he would ask her to forgive him. Naturally, their relationship was on an off and on basis.

One day she received a call from him inviting her to go out the following Sunday. All of us went on an outing but my sister said she would stay home. I knew she would be waiting for Drake.

When we came home I found her crying in her room She refused to take supper. She was angry and miserable over Drake. I sympathized with her but I couldn't do anything.

The next day she received a letter from him asking her to forgive him and promising the most solemnly that he would never offend her again in such a manner. He promised to visit her the following Sunday.

Sunday was the town fiesta of Malolos and we were invited by our relatives there to spend the day with them. My sister hesitated for a while as to whether she would go with us or wait for Drake's visit, but finally she decided to go with us. She said it was her turn to stand Drake up.

We arrived home from Malolos at about nine  o'clock that night. My  brother who had not gone with us told my sisterthat Drake had phoned looking for her and left a message that he would not be able to see her brcause he had an accident. He had called at six o'clock. My brother had chatted with him for a while. My sister merely shrugged her shoulders and said again!

Next morning when I came down to the living room, I saw my sister deathly pale, clutching the newspaper. I ran to her to see what the matter was. To my horror,I sawa picture of Drake on the front page. He had met a fatal accident on his way to Manila from the airport. The accident occured at four o'clock that afternoon and according to my brother Drake had a called at six o'clock.
