“No don’t go in there you’re gonna die!” I shouted in a blur.
“Do you do this everyday?”
“Shhh,” I waved a hand over my shoulder as I watched the screen in suspense. “What are you doing, Scooby?! There’s no scooby snacks in there, it’s a damn freaking ghost!”
“You’re such a loser.” Ari laughed as she walked around the couch with a stack of books and papers in her arms. She dropped them on the table and sat down beside me.
“You’re a loser. You’re the one studying.” I shot back, sneering at her pile of schoolwork.
“Yeah, cause some people actually wanna go to college and get a degree.”
“Ew,” I grumbled, turning back to the tv. “Fuck school. It can burn in hell for all I care.”
“Rude!”
“No offense.” I shot her a fleeting smile before turning to the screen and refocusing on the episode of Scooby Doo. I did this on a daily basis at home. Or my Aunt’s house. I hadn’t actually been home ever. I had always moved around too much to consider anything home. “Aw, you made me miss the end.” I pouted.
“Good. Turn it off so I can focus.”
“Noo, I wanna watch the Powerpuff Girls.” I complained, pulling the remote from my cousin’t reach.
“This is my house. Gimme the remote.” She reached out again and I grudgingly dropped it in her hand.
“You’re lucky I just moved in. According to Uncle Tom this is my house too.” I disagreed. I stood and tossed the pillow I had been holding at her head. I laughed as it smacked her in the face, knocking her large orange glasses crooked. She was a bit of a nerd and had the whole dorky look going on, but it really fit her well. I would never be able to pull it off but she looked gorgeous even with the glasses.
“Go take a shower, I wanna go out.” She threw the pillow back at me and I blocked it with a sweep of my hand.
“Where are we going?”
“I dunno yet.” She shrugged and pulled the nearest book on her lap. “Stop being a bum and get ready.”
I tossed the pillow at her head a second time and laughed as it bounced off and fell to the floor. “Yes ma’am.” I grinned and bounded out of sight before she could retaliate. “Goodmorning Uncle Tom.” I kept going past the kitchen before he responded and ran upstairs, taking a left and entering the bathroom Ari and I shared. I took a quick shower and got dressed just as fast, throwing on a pair of black jeans and a black tank top that barely covered the bra underneath.
“Are you ready yet?”
I glanced over to see Ari standing in my doorway, donned in a plain white t shirt and pale blue skinny jeans. I made a face at her at the exact moment she made one at me.
“Are you wearing that?” We both chorused.
“No,” I pulled on my black leather jacket and left it unzipped. “I’m wearing this.” I grinned as I bent down and pulled on my black boots. They weren’t stilettos like the night before, but they still had a decent sized heel.
“That’s even worse.” Ari walked over and picked up my babydoll lipstain, which I quickly snatched from her hand. I expertly applied it to my lips, putting a tiny shimmer of pink lip balm over for good measure. “You look like a demon child.” She observed.
“You say that like it’s something new.” I grabbed my eyeliner and mascara and set to work. “Do you see my black eyeshadow anywhere? I think I lost it.” I shoved her out the way to search my dresser. I easily spotted it amongst my messy array of makeup and popped it open.
