Cold. Bristling, skin aching snow. You were getting sick of this. Hell, the author is sorta getting tired of trying to find different types of words for "snow" and "bristle." You were much better than before, surprisingly, due to Jay offering his warm hoodie to you after freezing your butt off in the snow. You were guessing it was so warm because he was always so sweaty, but there are plenty other reasons, too.
You thought this because of what you have recently learned from him. Jay is one of the five main elemental ninja that apparently protect the underground from the plethora of various enemies that lurk in the shadows, such as snakes or Nindroids. Jay decided to help you out with this over a latte and an order of fries, which he had completely screwed over with an unscrewed ketchup bottle. Chuckling at the thought, you continue on your train of thought.
Jay himself was the ninja of lightning. You hardly believed that until he managed to give the whole entire food bar a blackout with the stuff. The power was brought down by his ancestors many years ago, and handed off to him, as well as his four "brothers." They were not actually brothers, but they had such an attachment to each other it felt as if so they had been.
Kai was the ninja of fire. He was still bothered by the cold, but he manages to cope much more easily than Jay with it, able to instantly warm up (or burn) his hands with the mere summoning of fire from the tips of his fingers. Jay had told him he was always sort of a stubborn type of person, ready to be thrown into battle and often never regretful of his lousy decisions. Nevertheless, that was Jay talking, so part of it might have not even been true out of fact, but more out of opinion.
Zane was someone you had heard of quite a few times throughout the town of Snowdin. He was had something to do with the "Royal Gaurd," but you had already forgotten what it all was about. You did remember that he was the ninja of ice, and had changed his own form at one point. You shivered at the thought of him being inhuman. According to Jay, he was an android ninja, or "Nindroid" as mentioned before. He was never an enemy, but once he was copied into multiple forms of an evil alliance to help aid a powerful monster.
Cole was the other one you had nearly forgotten about. According to Jay, he was the star of the underground. Supposedly had his own TV show or something. He was the ninja of Earth and uses his powers now only to swoon the viewers of the underground.
Jay did not mention the last elemental holder since there had been a terrible accident that saddened the whole underground of complete depression and despair once he had passed from battle. You decided not to touch on the topic because it sounded too touchy to go over.
"ATTENTION, SOON TO BE CAPTIVE!" A roaring voice yelled that caused you to jump, your heart pounding to the core. "I am here to CAPTURE you!"
It was Kai. He waved his hand in the air to dismiss your current state of confusion. "No need to worry, you mere child! I will just be attacking you in a hope to make you weak so I can cage you in one of THESE!" Kai pointed to a bird cage that you immediately cringed at in disgrace.
"I'd really like not to-"
"DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT! I will make this quick and easy for you..." Kai coiled his fingers in both hands, one completely clenched to a ball while the other was just... somewhat closed.
"Uhm-" Kai looked over at the hand anxiously as if waiting for something. "Cmon, cmon!"
Then, without any sort of warning or explanation, a sword slowly integrate along his hand, bursting in a flurry of aching warmth. He swung to test it, melting the snow much farther away than possible before, leaving a puddle of murky water between the both of you. You stood in utter disbelief at the long sword, engulfed in pure, red, fiery flames that had no effect on Kai whatsoever.
