Isabel’s POV:
Harry walked cautiously to the front of the truck, “Hey Lou how we doing?”
“Pretty good, thought for a moment you guys wouldn’t make it.” Louis chuckled.
I nervously went to Harry peering into the truck, “Hi Lou.”
“Hey Isabel. Oh this is Eleanor by the way, she’s my one and only girlfriend.” I turned to the girl in the passenger seat, she was beautiful.
“It’s nice to meet you!” she yelled out so that I could hear over the wind.
“It’s nice to meet you too.” I gazed around; standing up in a moving truck was freaking me out, watching the buildings zoom past us, “Where are we going?”
“Just be patient.” Harry smiled, sliding down into the truck bed, pulling me down with him. He intertwined his fingers with mine, his smile contagious, “So what do you think?”
“About this?” I asked.
“Yeah.” He appeared to be nervous about my answer.
I chuckled softly, “So far I think it’s weird…” his face fell in disappointment, I put a finger up for him to wait, “But I think it’s really fun too. I’m excited to see what’s going to happen later.”
His smile returned at that, “I’m glad you like it so far.” he brought my hand up to his lips, kissing my hand gently.
We sat there in silence, not bad silence, but nice peaceful silence. I laid my head against his shoulder, closing my eyes and taking him in. I still couldn’t believe Harry was my boyfriend, and that I was here with him right now.
I felt the truck come to a stop, the doors opening, “We’re here!” Louis yelled in excitement. I opened my eyes and peered around. We had stopped in front of a huge building; several people walking into it dressed the same way as Harry and I, and Louis too. I stifled a laugh at Louis’s look.
“What’s this place?” I held Harry’s hand as he helped me out of the truck.
“This is a special event that happens only once a year.” Eleanor spoke up, “It’s been exactly one year since Louis and I got together.” She leaned in and kissed Louis.
“Congratulations.” I smiled at them, “So this is how you guys met?”
“Yeah.” Louis laughed, scratching his head, “This is a masquerade ball. You can only get invited through the top people of the city.”
“Really? How did you guys get invited?” I glanced around at all of them.
“Well, my dad runs a huge restaurant chain in the state.” Louis moved his shoe around in the dirt, acting nervous.
“What about you?” I looked at Eleanor.
“My mom is on the board for public events like this, so naturally she would have her family here.”
I peered at Harry, “And you?” I was nervous to hear he was rich as popular.
“My dad is the governor of Florida.” He shyly shrugged his shoulders like it was a well known fact.
I dropped my jaw, “You’re Des Styles’ son?”
“Yeah.” He looked around not wanting to talk more about it.
“I didn’t know that.” I whispered.
“Well let’s go in.” Louis interrupted.
“This is yours.” Harry handed over a beautifully white carved mask, “You have to wear it in the ball room.”
