Jocelyn's head felt dizzy. She stepped out of the car, where she and Jessie had been sitting, cramped, for many hours. It was August, August 18th, a month after the fourth of July. Not much had happened in those two month; Jessie and Jocelyn remained in love. Life was good.
Now they were on vacation together, along with Jessie's older sister and her boyfriend, and two other girls. Jessie and Jocelyn's family was there as well.
"Bueno, a trabajar!" Jessie's father yelled. Everyone began to unload boxes and take them into the beach house where they were staying for the week. The whole party had gone from Texas, to Panama City beach. They were a long way from home.
Once they had all settled in, Jessie turned on the TV. Immediatley he found the Cartoon Network channel, whooping and saying, "Jocelyn! Adventure Time is on!" His girlfriend groaned. She didn't much have a taste for the show.
Jessie's mother, Claudia, laughed. "You two are such good friends!" Maybe I should mention; none of ther parents know Jessie and Jocelyn are dating. The two just smiled at Claudia, and Jessie forced Jocelyn to sit next to him. He covered the two in a faded, brown blanket, warm and used and smelling like him. Then, because no one could see, Jessie entwined their hands.
The show bored Jocelyn, so maybe I should skip ahead to the middle: about half-way through the show, two girls, about fifteen, came in from upstairs. One had long, wavy, black hair, eyelashes tinted with mascara, dimples, and a mouth full of braces. "Hey Jessie!" She chirped. Her voice slightly annoyed Jocelyn; it was the voice of a girl who knew she was pretty (but she was).
Jessie nodded, barely acknowledging her. "Mm. Hey Sam." He said. Jocelyn realized this was the daughter of the othee family who had joined them--Miguel and Cicilia.
The other girl had straight red hair, brown eyes, a friendly face, and nothing but lip gloss on. Jocelyn liked her better. She was definatley the kinder one of the two girls. "Hi!" The girl turned to Jocelyn, "I'm Kerri. Who are you?"
"Jocelyn."
"Ooh! That's such a cute name!" Kerri said, bubbly. Jocelyn rose a brow, "Ah, thanks."
Soon Adventure Time was over, and Jocelyn went upstairs to unpack. She would be sharing a room with her little sister, Sam, and Kerri. Yippee. The room was simple; two bunk beds, and one full bed. A step-in closet, and one bathroom to share with Sam's parents. Jocelyn took hold of the top bunk, and was almost done unpacking when Sam and Kerri strolled in. Sam at once took a strand of Jocelyn's curly hair. "I want to straighten this." She decided.
"It won't work," Jocelyn said quickly. She felt exposed in her shorts and shirt, like at any moment someone would rip them off and see the scars she was hiding. Sam sighed, "Yeah. It's to humid here."
Kerri nodded in agreement. As quickly as possible, Jocelyn escaped the room. Downstairs, her sister, Alex (her real name was Rhina), was laughing at a joke Joshua and Daniel had made. Joshua and Daniel were sons of Lazaros and Alma, other people who'd come on vacation. Joshua was eleven, and Daniel, Eight.
As Jocelyn was walking down the stairs, Jessie caught her. He whispered quickly, "Be strong." Before disappearing down the steps.
Jocelyn felt a smile tug at her lips. She forced it down. Her relationship with Jessie was strange, she supposed. But she liked it that way.

Author's Note: I just want you to know that this story is based on my actual relationship with my boyfriend. Yes. All this has actually happened. It's real. So, therefore, there will be some pretty dark areas in this book. Be prepared. Okay, bye.
