"Ista! Ista!" Connor called from outside in the snow. I opened the window and smiled down at him and the poorly made snow man. "Look Ista!" His smile shone brighter than the snow around him. "It is beautiful." I called down to him. "Come play with me!" He jumped a little. "Not right now Connor, I will be out in a few minutes." I shut the window and continued washing clothes ina bucket. Haytham has not come back since dawn this morning, I do not worry about him too much because I trust he is safe. Ever since I have left my tribe with Connor, Haytham has gotten soft while I have only gotten colder than the winter nights. He still fights and kills when necessary, but he hesitates like he never has before. He is no longer the fighter I married. I was not complaining, I did not mind him being the family figure father. I would much rather prefer that Haytham around Connor than the bloodthirsty Templar he was before. Fighting was over for my people, why should I be an outcast? I threw on my bear skin coat and joined my son in the cold, quiet weather. "Ista?" He mumbled under his breath, sitting in the snow. "Yes?" I answered. "Why do I not have friends?" He looked up at me, eyes hoping that I had the answer. "I... do mot know, perhaps they see you are not from here and never give you the chance." I tried to give him an answer, I hoped it was close to what he wanted to hear. I had know the real reason. Everyone is this town had known that Haytham was of Assassin dissent, this meant Connor was as well. They resented Assassins, and they had every right to their beliefs. As for me, I believed nothing of the Assassins or Templars, they were nothing of my concern, only of my husband's. "They hate me." "That is not necessarily true my son." I kneeled down to him. He said nothing, stood, and walked inside. I sighed. This was not going to be an easy childhood for him, and all I could do was try and help. I looked down the road to see Haytham trotting down the way on Scratch (his horse). "How's Connor?" He asks heading to the stables as I follow him. He dismounted his horse and looks down at me. "He could be better."
