Tokyo Ghoul: Forbidden Light

The Beginning

I'm hidden away in a small closet. The reason? My mother... I'm afraid of her. Fear is the only thing my life is now. The only time I was happy was when I saw dad...but eventually he too was taken away from me. The day he was taken from me was the same day we tried to escape this nightmare. He tried to take me and leave my mother but she killed him...right in front of me. So I've come to a conclusion that I'm either going to die by the hands of my own mother or...by starvation. I haven't eaten anything in a while.

"Come out, come out, wherever you are..." My mother teases.

I don't like this...not at all...but...I'm scared. What if I die? I don't want to die... I have to do something though. Things can't stay like this.

"You're going to make this worse on yourself by not coming out..." Her threatening voice sends chills down my spine.

I work up all my courage and strength and slowly stand up.
I spot my mother and sneak past her, make a left, and I finally see the back door.

A small twinkle on the ground catches my attention. When I go to pick it up, I realize it's a small golden pin.

Now, where have I seen this before...? Th-this...was dad's pin...

Tears start to fall from my eyes after being reminded of him and his tragic death. I put the pin in my pocket anyway and mentally bid farewell to mother and my life here.

I run as fast as I can out the door, not even bothering to close it out of fear that I'd make too much noise. After a while, I finally come to a stop and take a breather. A delicious smell catches my attention.

"Hm? What's...that smell...?"
