(Hiiiii! If you've been enjoying the fanfic so far, feel free to vote! Thanks for reading and i love youuu!)

Horace grasped my hands tightly.

"Promise me something," he said.

"What is it?" I asked. He sighed.

"Don't die. Don't you dare leave me behind."

I wanted to snort, but he was so earnest it hurt.

"You know I can't promise that kind of thing," I said. "I don't have an idea when I'll die. It could be today. Or tomorrow. Or maybe-"

"You won't die, get it? We're in a loop, where everyone's safe." Horace said, trying to make himself believe it.

"Then what about Victor?"

"That boy went mad!"

"Can you two keep it down?" Millard said, lowering his book. We were in his room, along with Claire, Olive, and Fiona, because Miss Peregrine wanted us to stay in one room while she investigated something.

"Yes. Sorry." Horace said.

Fiona was in one corner, sighing, because Hugh wasn't with her.

"Fiona! Can we play dolls?" Claire asked. Fiona smiled. "Sure, little one."

Fiona provided small voices for 'Clementine' while Claire had 'Raffy' (haha, get it? Because Raffi Chapman plays Claire in the movie?) and Olive had Lauren (Oops I did it again).

"Hey, why is it so quiet outside?" Olive suddenly said a few minutes later.

"I don't know," I said.

"Something's wrong-" Fiona began, but she was interrupted by a gunshot.

"WHERE ARE THE SWEET LITTLE PECULIARS? WHERE'S YOUR PRECIOUS YMBRYNE, EH? IS SHE HIDING OR ALL YOU ALL JUST STUPID?!"

I grabbed Horace's hand and Fiona put her arms around Olive and Claire, the substitute caretaker whenever Bronwyn wasn't around, also being the oldest in the room (she was physically eighteen like Hugh, Millard said).

Millard looked outside.

"Everybody down," he whispered.

We all hit the floor.

It was so full of suspense that I accidentally set off a strong light that made all the lights in the house disappear.

"Rayla!" Fiona whispered.

"I'm sorry!" I whispered back.

"Hush. Don't worry, it'll confuse the wights," Millard said.

"Fiona, I'm scared," Claire whimpered.

"Shhhh, dearie, it's going to be alright," Fiona said soothingly. Then she seemed to realize something.

"Olive! Where'd you go?!" she hissed in the dark.

"I'm up here, I accidentally slipped off my shoes and I floated," Olive's voice whispered.

Fiona groaned softly. "If only Bronwyn were here, she'd know what to do. I ain't really good with little kids," she said.
