"What do you mean we have to leave, Ray?"
"The new landlord stopped me this morning and said there was a numerous amount of complaints from our neighbors about the noise. I tried to explain why there's been so much chaos up here but he wasn't hearing me." He sighed putting his head down in his hands.
"I have enough money to get us a new place... I mean it is the least I can do since you did rent this place for us when we had nowhere to go-"
"Eric wants me to move in with him... But I didn't know what to say." He shook his head. I furrowed my eyebrows. "Why? That's good news, right?" I smiled
"Right..." My smiled faded away once I saw he wasn't smiling with me. "Wrong, what if something happens to you- or what if boogie needs a babysitter. I won't be in the room across the hall... What if that prick finds a way to get out of jail and tries to rape you again?"
"Then you're just a phone call away- it's... It's nothing to worry abou-"
He shook his head again. "No, J... Eric just got a job offer in California. He leaves tomorrow and wants me to come with him. Almost a two day drive from there to here. That's like a 6 hour flight and one call all the way from the other side of the country."
I bit my lip, holding back the tears that wanted to fall. I inhaled a trembling breath, "You should go with him."
"What?" He stared at me, wondering if I was serious. "Yeah..." I gulped, looking away from his stare "This could be a once in a lifetime chance for you. Y'know, since neither of us have ever been outside of the southern border. Go experience the west coast life."
"Are you sure? Do you really think I should go?" He asked, I nodded unable to speak. If I did open my mouth I would tell him to stay and mess up everything for him. I wanted him to go and live, even though it was eating me up inside to tell my bestfriend to go I don't want to be the one that held him back from his dreams. I tilted my head back some, thinking that it would help keep my eyes from watering but it only made things worse and they spilled over hitting my shirt like bullets. "I won't go if you don't want me to." He said noticing my tears.
"Go," I flashed a weak smile while holding his hand. "This could be a good thing for you, maybe now you can finally be a male model like you've always wanted." I chuckled, wiping my face with the back of my hand.
"Yeah..." He stared off. "You okay?" I asked
"I'm- I'll be fine." He sniffed, sitting back "It's always been our plan to have a bunch of babies and live next door to each other in big ol' mansions with our husbands LeBron James and Dwayne Wade." He laughed, pulling his knees up to his chest.
"Well, we still have time to work on the mansions and more kids but, I don't think Gabrielle Union would let me have D-wade. LeBron however can probably be persuaded." I said, helping Jamie climb onto the couch with us.
"I don't think Chres would let you have D-wade either... I kept asking myself, when is he gonna fuck up and make me want to kill him? But, he's been nothing but good to you. Out of all the guys you've dated he's the only one that didn't give me a bad vibe or make me question his actions."
"Why does everyone keep saying that?"
"Because it's the truth, J. Have you sat down and thought about everything you went through? Everything that has happened to you, that made you the person you are today? All the hard times that led you to him."
