                “Mister.”

The little boy tugged Richard Alexander Law by his pants, forcing him to a halt. Kid Law sighed. The crowd of people is getting thicker by every minute, and not to mention that he is late for his 8am class. He looked at the boy. In the first place, he can’t be sure if it is a boy, or just an underdeveloped girl. The child a loose and partially ripped brown tee and jeans ripped off of its legs.  The child has long, black, and dirty hair, and the extreme amount of dirt on his skin made the child even more unrecognizable. Kid forced himself not to yell at the poor fellow, who is in a kneeling position.

“What is it, boy?” he asked. “Sorry to be rude, but I’m in a hurry right now.”

The child tightened his grip on his pants. Kid slightly resisted, showing his irritation. The child looked down, and after a split second, he started gasping heavily, as if something had blocked his path of air. After a several pull of air, he sharply looked back at Kid Law, his face full of rage and fear.

                “Death,” he hissed. “Danger.”

Kid frowned. The child is starting to act strange.

“Danger is coming at you, mister, and death awaits you.”

“Oh,” Kid said, not showing any sign of worry about the child’s words. “Some kind of fortune telling, eh? Well, let’s see…”

He searched his pockets for some coins, but couldn’t find any. He checked his wallet, but again, no coins; only bills.

“Money is not what I need,” the child said, even before Kid could tell him that he doesn’t have any change. “Run away, mister.” The child paused, as he started to gasp heavily again, and again looked down.

                “Run… run… if you don’t…”

Kid looked around. He placed his palm beside the child’s neck, checking his temperature. He might be having fevered delusions, after all.

But he’s all well. And there’s no one visible who might be watching them.

Again, the child’s grip tightened and he once again looked at him, this time with tears running down his cheeks.

                “You’ll die!” the child sobbed.

Kid is starting to get annoyed. He forced the child to let go of his pants, throwing the child off a bit.

“This is enough! I need to go to my class.” And Kid hurriedly walked away.

“Mister!” the child screamed. Then, dropping his voice into a soft tone, he said, “Take this, and heed the warning inside it.” He handed Kid with his right hand a small piece of folded paper. As if not being aware of it, Kid got the paper and hurriedly made his way to class.

Normally, Kid wouldn’t mind it. But there’s something in that boy that at least had him worry about the credibility of the child’s words. But he must not think about it now.

                He is late for class.

Just after he had entered the University gate (with the guard at duty checking his things), a familiar voice called him. Looking, he realized that it was Professor Clark Villanueva, the English professor who gave him his “first case” at Mycroft University. Today, Professor Villanueva looked excited.
