Characters: Dino / Lee Chan, You, Vernon
———–Dino's eyes dart towards his watch and a smile makes its way to his face as he realizes the time. 3pm. He starts straightening out the crinkles on his work uniform and checking himself out in the coffee machine reflection. He makes sure his hair is neat and that there are no stains on his face since things tend to get a little messy whenever he makes orders.
Upon finishing his inspection, he feels a pair of eyes mocking him. Without turning to look at the owner, Dino says, "Stop looking at me like that. You're used to this, you shouldn't be judging."
"I'm not judging you. It's just that, you do this right before she walks in but never have I seen you make a move on her," Vernon says as he leans against the sink counter with crossed arms. Dino still hasn't turned to look at him but Dino knows there's a smirk on his face.
"I'm just waiting for the right time," Dino says as he fixes his hair once more. Vernon scoffs at his reply.
"You've been waiting for six months. Better make a move soon or I'll make my move on her instead." Upon hearing that, Dino turns around.
"You don't even like her!" Dino exclaims in a hushed voice. Vernon shrugs.
"True. She's hot though," Vernon smirks as he pushes himself off the counter and heads for the kitchen, leaving Dino clutching his fists.
"You snobby prick. You're lucky you're older or I would've shoved your head down the toilet," Dino mutters, his burning gaze on the entrance of the kitchen.
"I heard that!" Vernon calls out, snapping out of his angry trance.
"I was kidding!" Dino replies, giving a nervous laugh. Just then he hears the jingle of a bell and immediately his gaze flies towards the cafe door. His jaw drops ever so slightly as he stares at you in awe.
Usually you'd wear a casual tee with a pair of jeans or shorts, along with sneakers and you would still look stunning. Today however, it's a little different because you walked into the cafe dressed in a black lace tight fitting dress and a pair of heels. Not to mention your hair is let down when usually, you'd have it up in a ponytail. Apart from that, you also have makeup on. Dino's eyes make their way towards your maroon lips and subconsciously, he licks his lips.
Vernon stops in his tracks as he sees you at the doorway and his eyes widen in shock.
"Hot damn," Vernon coos as he nudges Dino. "Dude, for real this time. You better make your move on her before I do."
"Hey Vernon," you smile as you reach the counter.
"Well hello. Dolling up for me today?" Vernon casually asks, slinging his arm around Dino's shoulder.
You scoff, rolling your eyes. "You wish. I'm dressed like this because my father's workplace is having a dinner event later on."
"Ah, I see. Well you look stunning anyway," Vernon winks, earning a chuckle from you as you thank him. Turning to look at Dino, you greet him but instead of replying you like he usually does, Dino simply stares at you.
"Lee Chan? Hello?" You say once more, frantically waving your hand in front of his face. This snaps him out of his reverie and a timid "Hi" is all he can muster up as his face begins to heat up. You're about to ask him what was on his mind when Vernon cuts you off.
"You know, I never get why you always call him that instead of Dino."
"Because, I prefer calling people by their actual names," you reply.
"But you call me Vernon," he retorts.
"Yes, because that's part your actual name, you knucklehead."
"Hey, hey. Don't be rude. I'm older than you, remember that," Vernon points out.
"Oh I'm sorry, should I call you Oppa then?"
"I mean, that isn't such a bad idea," Vernon perks his brows as a smirk pulls on the corner of his lips. This is when he feels an elbow nudge his ribs, eliciting a silent yelp from him. Clutching his ribs, he glares at Dino who only smiles at him in return.
"You're needed in the kitchen," Dino says in an extremely polite way, waving Vernon off as Vernon stalks off towards the kitchen muttering under his breath. Once he's gone, Dino whirls around to face you.
"Sorry about that," he grins, rubbing the back of his neck.
"It's okay, I'm used to Vernon's attitude. But what's with you earlier on? You seemed really deep in thought." Dino's face begins to heat up again upon hearing those words but he simply shakes his head.
"That shall not be disclosed," he grins, causing you to raise your brow in a mocking way.
"Alright, fine, I shall not pry you any longer. Anyway, I'll have my usual ice blend," you say.
"Window seat?" Dino asks.
"Window seat," you confirm, returning his smile.
"Coming right up," he says. Right before you're about to head to your usual seat, you hear him calling your name. Turning around to meet his gaze, you give him a questioning look.
"I was thinking about how beautiful you look today," he smiles, his eyes never taken of yours. After a lingering second, he disappears into the kitchen and you hear Vernon saying, "Have you made your move yet?"
"Shut up Hyung!" You hear Dino exclaiming, earning a chuckle from you. Your mind clings onto the words Dino has said seconds before and you find yourself smiling but then again, which girl's heart wouldn't flutter when her crush compliments her in a very endearing way?
