Chapter 1
Yeah, that may seem weird. 'My shoe holds a secret'. Sounds like something a pervert would say. Eh, sounds right; pervert. I'm not a pervert, at least not from what I know. Me and my friend, Bella are known for stalking but not being perverts per say. My name is Felicity Arizona and I am 15. I'm the only ginger girl in my year. It's not natrual, it's dyed. You may think 'Why would someone dye their hair ginger?' well, maybe you should shut up. I like my hair ginger. My brother, Finn, doesn't really like the idea of ginger hair.
He's 18 so what does he know, right? My best friend is Emma Kervell and she's known for her innocent looks. She isn't innocent, not at all. Although I ALWAYS describe her as an innocent little girl. In fact, she's older than me. Older than Bella Carter, my other friend. Bella and I always loved to give things to the boys, whether it was ties from other schools or footballs, we loved seeing them happy.
Which leaves Rosa Helling. Rosa is the first one to find out my secret. Yes the secret that my shoe holds. In fact, it was HER idea that my shoe should hold that secret. It was when I was 12 that I found a shiny thing in the corner of my eye. Ever since, my life had been full of jokes and pranks. I couldn't get caught with this secret, oh no, Never. If I did, it would get taken away and that wouldn't be good.
If adults ever took the secret, then they would be in trouble. Or at least, the place where the secret came from would be in trouble.
"Felicity! Come on, we'll be late to English." Rosa had started pulling me to the tattered building as I walked casually down the steps. People were pushing past me, ignoring me and Roza. "You know Rosa, it doesn't matter if we're late. We can just use-" "NO! NEVER!" she had shouted before I finished my sentence. I groaned and opened the huge door, walking into the filled building. We pushed past sweaty and frustrated teenagers and managed to get to our class.
I looked inside to see Emma and Bella already in there. I grinned and strutted to the table, placing my bag on the floor making a huge 'thump' noise. "Just in time girls. Get out your books and read for 30 minutes." our teacher groaned, looking back down at her folders. We were lucky. We were all sat together, me, Rosa, Emma and Bella. It gave us a chance to play some tricks on the class. I grabbed my pencil case, planner (A thing we note down homework and how good we were in a lesson in) and my old tattered book.
Oh the irony! I was reading THAT book again. That book that my secret SUPPOSEDLY came from. I grinned across to Emma who was preparing a dozen of pencils and I looked beside her to see Bella looking around to check if anyone was looking. When Rosa nodded to me, I lifted my foot up to lay on the chair and took off my shoe, rolling the little jar into my hands. The powder inside glittered and I grinned with delight as my fingers got coated with it. Pixie dust. The exact powder that would make you fly. I always used it on myself or on objects just to freak people out.
When I said 'Oh the irony' its because I was reading Peter Pan. Actually one of my favourite books in all of life. I believed so much in those stories and ever since I found the dust, I knew that Pan was somewhere out there. I took a pinch of the dust and sprinkled it across the pencil and snigered quietly as they started to float. We all took one pencil and pushed them into the centre of the room as the teacher looked up and screamed.
"WHAT IS GOING ON!?" she screamed, jumping onto her chair. Everyone looked up and stared at the pencils, most of them going pale. We sat in our seats, snickering as our hair covered our eyes. Soon we burst out laughing and we stood up, grabbing the pencils and sitting down. "LEAVE THOSE PENCILS GIRLS! THEY MIGHT HARM YOU!" the teacher shouted and so we decided to use our normal excuse. "Our parents work in a department where they analyze this." Emma explained and looked at Rosa. "Yeah, they told us how to react to this." she carried on and turned her head to Bella who was twiddling with her brown hair.
"It happens everywhere." she grinned at me and I smiled at the teacher, tucking a strand of ginger hair behind my ear. "There's really nothing to worry about miss." I giggled and she stared at us before slowly sitting back down. She cleared her throat and slowly smiled. "Right. Thank you girls. Carry on reading." she said, looking down at her papers with a hint of blush in her cheeks. We huddled together and snickered before actually sitting down and ready our books.
I found it extraordinary that there was this boy who has no care in the world, who has the same secret as I do. I found the way he takes children to bring back to Neverland amazing and dark. I sometimes wondered if there really was such a thing as Neverland but then I think 'Of course there is. If there's pixie dust, then there's Neverland.'
We walked home in quite a buzz, still talking about English. We clambered into my house, noticing my parents weren't in. Probably out shopping or some shit. We got greeted by my dog, Bolt and Finn. "I see you're laughing. I'm guessing you used the dust again." he glared at us and we sheepishly nodded before walking into the living room in a line. "What have I told you!? Don't you remember the risks!?" he shouted at us as we casually slumped onto the couch.
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever..." I muttered. I could feel his eyes glaring down but I was too busy staring at my interesting fingernails. "FELICITY! Pay attention!" he growled and I looked up, smirking. "I don't need to. You're not the boss of me." I scoffed, pushing him away from me. He grabbed my wrist and puleld me up. "Felicity, cockiness won't help you in life. I'm just trying to keep you safe." he said, his blue eyes looking into my green ones. I nodded and sighed, falling back down into the couch.
"Give her a break. She's tired after today." Emma mumbled, twiddling her thumbs. Finn sighed and ran his hand through his hair. "Alright. I'm leaving. Don't get up to no good, ok?" he said and we slowly nodded. He grabbed his keys and slammed the door shut before walking outside. As soon as I heard the click of the door, I jumped up and grabbed my shoe, taking the little jar out. "So, whats the plan?" Rosa asked, grinning hungrily for adventure.
I smirked and looked at Bella. "Would you care to explain?" I asked and she smiled and stood up. "Well, we're running out of the dust. So, we need to get more. From Neverland. Meaning we need to fly there. Since no-one is in the house, now is a perfect time." she explained, looking into the eyes of Emma and Rosa. They slowly nodded and I walked to my back garden. "We'll definitely get spotted, but it's the risk we'll take." I muttered, looking up to the clear sky. "It's getting dark. We have to hurry." I explained and I grabbed the jar, sprinkling some dust on me as I started floating up.
When the girls had joined me, I looked up again and sighed. "Let's hope there's actually something up there." I muttered.
Short first chapter but meh. I put in a picture of Felicity :)
