Did I hear him right? He did not just call me a psycho bitch, did he?
“Look. I don't even know why I'm talking to you right now, alright. Just leave me alone” I say and quickly shut my door in his face rarely showing any emotion.
“Asshole..” I say under my breathe as soon as the space between has been shut off.
I could stand him being a jerk on my normal day but now that I won't be seeing my mom for two weeks, I already feel crappy and I don't need him to sink me down under even more.
Whatever. Its only 9:30 PM but I'm tired and its just been a long day. I'm going to go to bed before something else happens. I set my alarm for 6 in the morning and close my eyes hoping to fall asleep quickly.
I wake up to the very annoying sound of my alarm. I was about to turn it off and ignore it when I realize it's Monday and summer is officially over. I get up from my warm bed and rub my eyes. It's going to be a long day.
I go to the bathroom and take a shower. I undress as I wait for the water to warm up. While I'm cleansing my body I start going over the many possibilities on how this day could go. I really hope I don't get lost. I hate to ask for help. Everybody needs a little help sometimes but I don't know, I just don't like it. I always want to do everything by myself, its really annoying actually.
Once I was finished showering, I try to decide what to wear today. Should I dress casual or dressy? I really shouldn't make a big deal out of this. I mean people go to college in their pajamas.
I put on a pair of skinny jeans and a black tank top with the words “Only Music Can Save Us” written across it. I then begin to look at what shoes to wear and decide to go with my black and white converse. I tie my hair up and apply some make up. Not a lot, just the right amount to bring some color to my face. Unlike the movies, I don't wake up looking like a goddess so I have to do something with myself in the mornings.
Once I'm done getting ready, I grab my book bag and go get my bike that's in the storage area of the apartment building. Once I get outside with my bicycle I put my book bag in the front basket and start pedaling. The school isn't that far and I get there in about 15 minutes. I grab my lock and chain my bike to the bicycle stand on the sidewalk.
The campus is big. Really big. I still have 20 more minutes until my first class starts so I decide to get some coffee at a cute little coffee shop I find in the corner. When I walk in, people are sitting on the sofas and tables provided with either a laptop or some kind of tablet. While I'm waiting in line, I see a lot of treats on display and can't help myself. I buy a hot coffee with a bit of Irish crème to get me through the day and a blueberry muffin.
I better start walking to class. My law class is fairly close and I get there with 5 minutes to spare. I take a glance inside the classroom and notice that no one is in there yet except for the professor. I don't want to be the first one in so I keep pacing back and forth outside the class until people start walking in.
“Hey, it's you again.” I hear a familiar voice behind me. Niall.
“Oh hey.” I say while grinning somewhat stupidly.
“You have this class?”
“Yeah. Do you?”
“No, but I had Professor Torres last year. He's cool, just don't get on his bad side.” He warns me.
“Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.”
“Yeah, well I gotta go or I'm going to be late. I'll see you around Melody.” He says giving me his best smile and begins to walk away.
I walk into class and sit in the middle of the classroom. I don't want to be in the back where I won't be able to concentrate but I don't want to be in the front either. I sit next to a girl wearing a buttoned up white shirt under a very nice cardigan and skinny jeans.
I start fiddling my pencil around my fingers when the stylish stranger approaches me.
“Hi, I'm Rose .” She says and sticks out her hand for me to shake.
“I'm Melody” I respond and she smiles.
“Cool name. So Melody, what brings you to study law?”
“A lot of things actually. I just want to help the innocent and I'm really good at arguing.” I say attempting to make her laugh and I succeed.
“Same here. Plus, its the only thing that sounds interesting to me.”
As I was about to reply, the Professor gets up from his desk and simply stands in front of the class. He is wearing a blue buttoned up shirt with a tie and cargo pants. His hair is pulled back and he had a pencil behind his right ear, coffee mug in hand. He waited as the voices began to die down.
“Hello” He says rather ecstatic “I'm Professor Torres, but you can call me Torres or Jonathan. Don't call me professor, it makes me sound old.”
I laugh at his introduction and then stop when I realize I'm the only one laughing. Great, now the whole class is looking at me. I turn to Rose and she is chuckling at my embarrassment by pointing to my now pink cheeks. I pretend to write something down to draw the attention away and professor Torres keeps speaking.
“Well, welcome to Law Studies! If you're here then you probably have an interest in law” He says “or you probably still have no idea what you want to do in life and figured why not take law? Whatever the reason, you're here and I'll do my best to teach you all you need to know on the subject.” Torres announces and takes a seat at his desk.
“Now, it's the first day and the syllabus isn't ready yet so you guys got lucky. You can take the rest of the class time off. Bye!”
I rise from my seat along with the rest of the class and watch Rose as she flips her perfect caramel colored hair over her shoulder.
“Wow, he seems... cool” She tells me.
“Yeah, very loose” I say as I watch him put his pencil behind his ear.
“Agreed.” She says “So do you have another class after this?”
“Psychology, what about you?”
“I don't have anything else today and since this class was cut short, I'm basically free for the rest of the day. I think I'll go shopping.” She says with a big grin on her face.
I'm not really a fan of shopping. I love getting new clothes, bags and shoes but having to physically go to the mall and search through racks of clothing for what seems like hours is not what I look forward to .
“Do you want to come?” She asks me the question I was afraid of..
“Uhh, I would love to but I really can't. Maybe some other time.” I say putting on my best sympathetic smile.
“Well alright then. I'll see you around, Melody.” She says and waves goodbye.
While, Rose goes shopping I decide to spend my free time at the campus library. A quiet place full of different types of stories where anything can happen would be good right about now.
My eyes widen as I walk into the large building. The bookshelf's were packed with books each pertaining to a different genre. Students were sitting at the desks referencing off textbooks and apparently getting some last-minute work done.
I direct myself to the fiction section and start looking through the different options. I pick out an old classic, Pride and Prejudice. I sit on the ground in the middle of the two rows of books and cross my legs. Suddenly, I am transported to early 19th century England, no longer aware of my surroundings.
