The Train

Rythian and I sat next to each other on the train. It was magnificent. There was a buffet table behind us with all sorts of fancy foods. The chairs were made of leather, the carpet was soft. Even a crystal chandelier hung above us.

Kaeyi came in and grumbled.

"I'm going to find Teutron. He's probably in the bar car" she turned and walked out the door she just entered. Rythian turned to me.

"Have you ever met him? Teutron?" I didn't answer. I didn't even look at him. He spoke with an accent, which was rare in District 12.

"Look, I know your upset but I don't see what's wrong with getting a little bit of help"

I looked up at him, my mouth opened to say something but I stopped as I liked into his eyes. A memory, two years ago, flooded back into my mind. Me, out in the rain, under a tree. I couldn't move because I was so weak from starvation. I saw the back door to a building open and a boy stumbled out. His cheek red with blood from a scratch, his purple eyes glowed in the darkness. He looked up and saw me, weakly looking at him. He glanced down at the burnt bread in his hands and threw it towards me, then turned and went back inside.

I closed my mouth and looked away from him as the door opened and a man walked into the cart. He looked up, his blonde hair messy, his eyes dark.

"Congratulations" he said and headed towards the buffet table. He poured himself a drink, adding ice, then sat beside me. Rythian cleared his throat.

"Ok, so when do we get started?" He asked.

"Woah," Teutron mumbled.

"Your so eager. Your not usually this excited."

"Yeah, well, your our mentor-"

"Mentor?"

"Yeah, our mentor, your supposed to tell us how to survive."

Teutron half smiled.

"Ok, uhh, embrace, the probability, of your imminent death. And know, that deep down, there is nothing I can do to save you."

He stood up, and walked out, just as Kaeyi walked in. She pointed in his directions and looked at me, about to say something but the look on my face made her stop, smile, and walk out.

I spent the rest of the evening in my room, thinking about what was going to happen. I was going into the Hunger Games. Twenty four tributes, only one comes out. One of those, is a boy who saved my life. I was going to die. I thought about Emily. My mother. Parv. Were they starving? Were they going to die? I wouldn't know. I promised Emily I would win, but know I'm not to sure. There was a high chance I would be killed. A very high chance. I fell asleep, thinking of everything that was going wrong.

I woke the next day and put on long black trousers and a plain green t-shirt. I walked out into the main cart and saw Rythian and Teutron talking at the dining table. Kaeyi was sitting on the leather chairs next to the buffet table. I walked over to the Teutron and Rythian table.

"You'll freeze to death first" Teutron was saying.

"No, because I know how to light a fire"

"Oh, that's a good way to get killed"

"What's a good way to get killed?" I asked. They both looked up. Teutron went to speak but Rythian bet him to it.

"I was just asking about shelter"

I looked up at Teutron.

"And how do you find shelter?" Teutron thought about this. Rythian stood up suddenly, moving to the window.

"There it is" he said, looking out the window. He was looking at the Capitol. I looked over his shoulder and gasped.

"It's huge" he mumbled. He was right. The Capitol was massive. And I was about to go inside and become very famous.
