His bony fingers reacher out to me. I could smell the decaying flesh on his bones. He came closer letting me finally see the ghostly souls looking on me. They had massive pity in their eyes and pain, pain and pity for me. They knew what he was about to do. I knew what he was about to do. Even though I knew and my powers had finally started working under my control I could do nothing abut what was going to happen next. I took a deep claming breath and waited for the inevitable as death's bony fingers finally came into contact with my teary face.
BANG.
I shot up. That was not a noise I was expecting to wake up to. After realising my flashback was nothing more than a dream I calmed down.
BANG.
Well at least I didn't dream that part. I scanned the dark room and quickly changed my vision. Yeah I could see in the dark. Nothing was in my room though...
BANG.
Something was out there though. I quickly jumped up and walked to the door separating me and the banging. I slowly grasped the door handle and took a deep breath to calm my beating heart. It felt like I had the energy of a humming bird, along with the heartbeat of one. I closed my now glowing green eye and pushed open the door. My breath caught in my throat as I opened my eyes to find the next room... with a horse in the middle of it.
"MOONDUST! " I yelled annoyed at the horse.
He came over and nudged my neck.
"Fine you're forgiven. What was with all the banging?" I asked.
He flicked his nose towards the clock and I gasped. I had exactly fifteen minutes until the rest of the globe celebrated halloween. I slept for almost half an hour!
"Thank you. What would I do without you." I said as I rushed to my room.
He whinned to say 'you would die'. I rolled my eyes at the show off horse. I bushed my hair and then rechecked my outfit. I may have been unseen by everyone but I was a girl and for some reason I had a compulsion to make myself look presentable. I looked at the red haired, purple eyed girl in the mirror. She frowned back at me looking over her own midnight blue dress. It was a nice dress. It reacheed just above my knees and was midnight blue almost black. I wore red shoes and a red cape that reached the ground with a hood. I laughed as it reminded myself of little red riding hood.
BANG.
Apparently Moondust wanted to go...now. I quickly ran out and up the stairs making sure I had my note book and pan flute in my brown riding bag. I mounted Moondust and rode into the off into the dark night sky ready for the second dose of Halloweeen goodness. I laughed as the wind rushed past my hair like a train with no destination.
"Moondust. We are rushed for time." I whispered.
He snorted and pricked up his speed as I spread my music through the cities. My music also spread my Halloween sprit. Each note would leave my flute and turn into a sweet over a child's head. Obviously the child couldn't see me so when they looked to where the music and sweets were coming from they saw Moondust. He would prance around and put on a show for the children. Sometimes I swear he is more of a show pony than a war horse. He used to be my father's horse in the army but he turned into mine. I stopped playing when we came to the city of Indianapolis, in America. It was reaching twelve midnight again and I decided walking would be more fun. I only had a few minutes left before I lost my purpose again for another three hundred and sixty five days.
"Let's walk Moondust. Take in the sight of Halloween." I frowned.
He nodded his head and rode off knowing I would need space. I walked the streets smiling at the elder boys and girls running around. I was so distracted I didn't notice the boy standing in front of me. I walked right into him which usually wouldn't be a problem but this time it was. I didn't go through him. I fell back and looked up at him with shock and surprise.
"Hello" He smiled.
I couldn't speak I just had my hand over my mouth.
"Are you ok? You're no hurt are you?" He asked.
I looked up at him. He was a white colour with blue eyes and a blue hoodie. He was certainly attractive but he shouldn't have been able to see me. Why was he so special. I whispered for my horse to come to my side. Moondust was beside me in a flash.
"Wait I won't hurt you." the boy said as I quickly jumped on Moondust.
I just looked down at him confused and shook my head. He returned my confused gaze as Moondust took off. I escaped. Thank the moon man. I frowned as I rode away. That boy could see me. Why? He didn't look like a boy the age to believe anyway. Lucky Halloween was over. I didn't have to deal with him. Or would I? Moondust suddenly stopped in his tracks.
"What is it?" I asked.
He just sniffed the ground cautiously. Annoyed with his behaviour I dismounted and began to walk ahead. That's when everything went black. The smell of presents and sweets filled my nose so I knew I didn't pass out.
"Hey let me out!" I protested.
Then I face palmed. I wasn't usually heard by anyone. Wait. I wasn't seen by anyone either... Who was able to see me enough to put me in this bag? There were only three people I knew: my father, the boy I met before and...pitch. Pitch black. My greatest weakness.
"Relax little sprit. Ve take vu to my place." A Russian accent told me.
I breathed a heavy sigh of relief. Pitch doesn't employ Russian people or people at all.
"Oh yeah believe the big scary Russian guy." I snorted.
Someone laughed as I herd Russian man whisper 'home.' Suddenly it became a ton colder. Like North Pole cold. I felt a few bumps and heard a few screams from an Australian accent but that's all. I was then carried, more like dragged, across timber floors and the bag was opened. Yetis were walking around freely and Lilly's elves were running around. The crowing was ten meters high with a massive globe in the middle of the room. It had little glowing dots on it. I looked around the find the whole room Christmas themed and filled with toys. My eyes stopped on the five figures in front of me. That's when I realised I was at the North Pole.
"Velocme to the North Pole. Now who are you?" Santa asked me.
"You wouldn't like who I am so why did you ring me here?" I asked.
"Jacks idea." He mumbled.
"I just though you would like to be believed in. We can help you get believed in." Jack said.
"Well you obviously didn't." I said.
"Didn't what?" He asked.
"Didn't think. I really don't want to be believed in. Can I go back to Moondust now?" I asked.
Jack just glared at me. I must have struck a nerve.
"Where the bloody hell is Moondust?" The bunny asked.
"I have no idea. He is a horse not a place." I sighed.
"He can stay here. Man in moon might like to look at you." Santa announced.
My eyes widened in fear.
"No. Look I'm sorry but the man in the moon and I haven't really spoke. Much and I prefer it that way. Also I don't mind not being believed in. It's my life. I shouldn't even be talking to you. I really have to leave." I said.
everyone just stood there a little confused as I stood up.
"Told you mates. Halloween is the creepiest holiday of the year." I heard bunny say.
"Completely agree." Jack replied.
I stopped dead in my tracks. the guardian of fun believed my holiday was creepy. I mad a massive mistake by looking back into his frosty blue eyes. He looked back at me with pity and pain. Pity and pain for me. Just like my nightmare.
