"have you got a little free time?" were the words you asked me that cold winter night.
"yeah.. why?"
"i was just wondering if maybe you would come with me for a little while.. i have something to show you."
i put the change on the table for the barista and we made our way out of the café towards the woods.
"don't you just love it here?" you said, breathing in the crisp air.
i shuddered a little, as it was so cold.
"it's beautiful. now, what is it you wanted to show me?" i smile, and you take my hand.
"not even the entire night sky can compete with the amount of light i see within your eyes, tara." you place one hand on my cheek and stroke it gently with your thumb.
i look bashfully at the floor, and you lean in to place a tender kiss on my lips.
"it's a shame it will be several decades until you're up here in the stars with me," you whisper into my ear and then you float up into the sky.
it was only after i found myself asleep on a tree stump in the woods that i realised our encounter was merely a fragment of my imagination.
