June 10th- Courtney Smith
My eyes snapped open as sunlight streamed through my window. I rubbed my eyes and pushed my straight chocolate brown hair behind my ears.
"Courtney! Come down and get some pancakes! Are you packed for camp yet? We have to leave bright and early tomorrow to get you there for 1:00."
"Coming mom!"
I quickly run a brush through my hair and then walk downstairs. The smell of blueberry and chocolate chip pancakes hit me in the face when I turned the corner into my kitchen.
As I pour maple syrup onto my pancakes, my mom slaps a packing list on the counter next to me.
"This has all of the items you need for camp this year. Please try to pack before the last minute today." My mom smiles. "I have to head out for a hair cut and a manicure but I will be back in a couple hours." My mom pulls her purse over her shoulder and promptly walks out the door.
I sigh and finish my pancakes. I actually can't wait to go to camp this year. My mother is always going out to spa days or something for her when she should be helping me pack. I clear the counter and then head up the luxurious steps up to my huge bedroom. I flop onto my bed and straighten up the covers.
"Hmm. Where is my suitcase?" I think out loud. I look under my bed and pull out my giant blue suitcases and unzip the covers. Over the next hour, I put in all the things I need for my eight-week long camp.
I ring my intercom so that my butler knows to bring my suitcases downstairs. I get my pillow and fold my blanket neatly and place them next to my suitcases.
My butler, Tom, comes up the stairs a moment later and picks up the first load of suitcases.
"Did you put your whole closet in these bags??" Tom chuckles and sets the rest of the bags at the bottom of the stairs.
"Very funny Tom," I say with a grin on my face.
The next day, I wake up bright and early and pull on a blue halter top and jean shorts. I fashion my long brown hair into a bun on the top of my head. I take my white sunglasses off my vanity and slip on my white sandals.
As I got into the car, I had a feeling that this was going to be a great summer.
