We keep on running nonstop. Looking back at the rusty old cages that kept us locked up for so many years, at least that's how long it felt like. All those years wasted on failed escapes, but here we are again running as fast as our legs could possibly take us. We didn't even know where to go. This place is like a gigantic laboratory from what I've seen, and believe me I haven't even seen half of this place. They would barely ever let us out of our cages. Probably 4 times every 2 months.
I honestly don't care where we end up anymore, as long as my brother Zeke is there with me and safe. I can feel his grip tighten around my wrist, as we're sprinting down the halls. He's a lot faster than me, so he's technically just dragging me down the halls while I trip over my feet trying to keep up. My legs start to get really tired and without realizing it I trip and fall flat on my face. Zeke notices immediately that my wrist is not in his hand anymore, and jumps to a stop. He turns and runs back to get me. I try to get up quickly but I feel a rough hand grab my shoulder and yank me up with no effort at all. I already knew it was a guard holding me, which was very embarrassing knowing I already got us caught with my stupid clumsiness. I tried to get away from his grasp but he put me in a headlock.
I could see the guard pointing a gun at Zeke. He wasn't gonna show us any mercy if we didn't obey him. I struggled to speak. I needed to tell Zeke to leave without me or else we'll both be caught. Zeke saw the way I was looking at him and shook is head no. If we make it out alive I was going to strangle him for not listening.
"Don't move!" the guard shouted, "Put your hands in the air and surrender yourself!" He tightened his grip on me which caused me to struggle even more. Zeke did as he said and put his hands in the air and slowly got on both of his knees. He loosened his grip on me a little by paying more attention to Zeke so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to fight back. I kicked him where the sun don't shine because why not? When he finally let go of me I ran over to Zeke. We had to hurry up and leave. I heard a really loud gunshot and noticed that the guard had shot Zeke. I screamed in surprise.
The guard started to get up so he could attack again but I ran over to him and kicked him right in the jaw.
"Sorry bout that," I said apologetically and went back over to Zeke. I honestly felt bad for kicking him, even though he did almost try to kill Zeke.
Zeke was already standing up and ready to go when I walked back to him.
"What about your wound?" I asked worriedly. He shook his head at me. "Don't worry about it. He only grazed my shoulder," I glared at him. I was about to protest but he was already running. I chased after him remembering the situation we were in. I could hear large footsteps coming towards us.

Fast.

I still felt bad for kicking that guard. He looked about our age, so ya never know. Maybe he was forced to do this against his own will. My thoughts start to go everywhere without meaning to. I look at Zeke in front of me running and think about how his life was so perfect until I came along into his life. If he hadn't of found out about me he wouldn't be in this mess. Everything was always my fault whether I liked it or not. I never liked it....
We take a sharp turn and we start searching for a place to hide. There's a lot of doors here so there has got to be at least one place for us to hide in. I could hear the footsteps getting closer. Zeke opens the door and shoves me inside. I feel something sharp cut my arm when I fall inside. Zeke quickly covers my mouth so I don't make a sound and I don't even try to. We sat there silently listening to the loud thumps slowly fade away. We stay like that for about a minute just to be sure they're gone. Zeke's hand is still on my mouth not to mention my nose also, so I yank his hand off of me and give him a menacing look.
"Ew! Your hands are disgusting!" I complain to him.
"Could you be any louder M?" he hissed at me. I could tell he wasn't really angry, but he was serious.
"Sorry," I mumble loud enough for him to hear me.
"It's fine....how's your arm?"
"I'm not dead yet. Am I right?" I tried to lighten up the mood. He ruffles my royal blue hair. While we were here they decided to dye our hair thinking it would be easier to tell who was who so they wouldn't get confused with us. They don't even Dye it all the way unless you have really short hair. No clue why they would get confused in the first place though. Zeke's hair is a very Bright Orange. I can still remember how it used to be a beautiful shade of brown. They dyed it all the way orange cause his hair wasn't very long like some others. I thought it looked nice on him, but I still mentally took a picture of him with his old hair because I know I wont ever see him with it again and I only got to see it for a short time. I know for sure that Zeke hates his new hair. Mine is only half blue luckily because my hair goes down to my mid back. My normal hair color is brown also, but darker than Zeke's old hair color. Almost black.
Zeke and I stood up ready to go out there again. He slowly opened the door and looked around making sure the coast was clear. He gave me the hand signal telling me it was clear. I had to be ready this time. I couldn't afford being clumsy anymore. We might not be lucky like we were last time. I followed him out the door ready for life or death.

Hopefully life....
