ONE - The Well

I was born in the late 1600s I think, I honestly can't remember after so long, ya' see this whole "demon blood " thing stopped my aging process by the time I hit around 23 and hopefully it isn't permanent. I wasn't normal kid, no parents after i turned 10, no blood ties of any kind, but, I did have a family.

I was part of a group of kids all trying to survive, we were a bunch of misfits that got together on the streets of  Riak, the city that never gets better.

There was me, Kin age 16, I was the runner since i had long legs and I was fast, then there was Saffron age 15, I never found out her real name but I came close when someone yelled at her in the last town we lived in, she could pick locks in no time flat. Eric age 14, he was the best pickpocket in there, he could steal the shoes right off your feet and you wouldn't even feel it. Angelina age 15, I was never close with her, she was the type who only wanted gold no matter the risk but, hell, she could sneak like a shadow at night, last but not least Zack age 18, he was our un-spoken leader, and the best one of us at lying, he could convince anyone about anything, him and Eric always worked as a pair. That was my family, or the closest thing to, we stuck by each other, even Angelina.

Anyways, this all started around winter time when I was walking into a small town Krio i think it was called?, for some supplies but I decided to head to a secluded well outside of Krio to not draw too much attention since I was outsider in a small town.

It was the same thing as every other run, go get water, food, and other supplies that we might need, but this run had a lot more in stock.

I walked to the well and expected nothing out of the ordinary, but I heard small splashing in the well, I looked in to find a little girl, couldn't be older than 10, "what the fuck?" I muttered

"Hey dumbass, why the hell you in the well? Don't ya' know people need to drink this?"
I yelled down, she looked up at me, and I could see was fear in her eyes, and not the type of fear you get from a surprise , no, this was the eyes of someone who lost something dear to them.
"Hey, im not going to hurt you, trust me" i held my hands up to let her know that I was ok.

"C'mon, let get your ass out of here"
When she got near enough I picked her up out of the water "jesus" I muttered as I noticed some pretty nasty open wounds on her back, I set her down to try to at least clean them a little.

"Ow ow ow ow" she whimpered

"Look, im trying to be gentle, just suck it up for a second" I honestly don't have a clue how to help her besides cleaning up these...cuts?

They look more like something got ripped off

I never did get an answer, "what happened kid, why were you in the well?" i asked

The kid didn't say much except "Mommy and daddy told me to run"

This freaked me out a little since the well was a bit far from any towns and the closest thing to it was at least a couple of miles up the path

"Do you know where you ran from?" I asked, she pointed deeper into the woods where I could see faint footprints in the snow

After I finished cleaning her back I put my jacket on her to at least keep her a little bit warmer "god im glad it isn't snowing" I sigh out

I pick up the girl and start to slowly make my way up the way the girl ran through the woods, it wasn't too long before I saw a cabin

It wasn't too fancy, just a small cabin in the woods made of logs,moss,and standard cabin stuff but, the door was broken inwards.

I slowly let the girl down "Hey, can you do me a favor?" I whispered out "stay right here until I get back, I'll make sure everything is ok, ok?"
She hesitated before nodding in agreement "alright, stay warm" i said before making my way to the cabin.
