The door slams in her face with a definitive BAM!
As fast as I slammed the door I realized what I did and whipped it back open.
She had started to turn away disappointment took over her features like a disease.
I wanted nothing more than to make it go away.
"Actually I changed my mind..um urr the manger said there's room here and you're welcome to it.." I should have stopped talking at 17 years ago.
But she seemed to enjoy my rambling cause a small smile spread across her face.
The smile was infectious cause even In my dazed 2 am sleepy state my face lit up.
She rolled her suitcase through the doorway of my apartment shyly looking around.
"Do you want something to eat? I have plenty, Masons out of town for the next week looking at a college in San Francisco."
I look at her and her small frame against the dark apartment.
So soft I almost don't hear it she says,
"No thanks I just need to sleep."
She sinks further into the huge hoodie she's wearing.
"Yeah I can do that, I'll take you to your room then.." We head down the hallway to a room.
By a room I really mean my room cause we have limited options in this apartment
My room may not be the best place to keep her but it's all we have other than Masons room and the couch and I wasn't about to let her sleep on an old couch.
My room was as small as a closet but for Hannah her face told me it looked like heaven.
I wanted to ask where she had been all this time and why she came to me today at 2 in the morning, but she had already collapsed on the bed.
All those questions could wait for now, the love of my life was safe bundled up in a huge hoodie.
The manly cologne and dirt scent of this room mixed with her smell of lilacs and sewer (honestly not the best combination).
I laid a bright pink throw blanket (don't ask why I have one because I am an almost grown man and I can do as I please) over her so she wouldn't freeze more than she already had.
Afterward trudged back into the living room to my fortress of comfort or couch as the common people call it.
Flopping down much less gracefully than Hannah, I got the best sleep I've had in months.
The next morning my dreaded alarm clock woke me up even though I sure as hell was not going to school today.
I woke up anyway to check on the blond girl currently in my house.
I walked back to her room with a towel and some of Masons stock of girly shampoos and cosmetics.
In case your wondering, much of Masons family vists our apartment so he keeps lots of extra supplies on hand.
Anyways Hannah is still asleep her hair astray in 76 different directions, but to me she never looked better.
Instead of the normal stressed out look on her face she looked calm for once, relaxed, comfortable.
I loved that fact that I made her feel like that, well my bed did but it's practically the same thing.
I left the towels and other assorted things at the end of her bed and went to make breakfast.
Now what do you make a unstable girl that you love who has been missing for months
Omelettes.
Yes a very stable breakfast food.
Omelettes are the breakfast version of a healthy therapist and sounds pretty close to what I need at the moment.
I wonder what would happen if humans laid eggs?
Would we just lay eggs at random or would they have to be eggs with kids cause we could just make our own omeletts at will like, "hey are you hungry?" Hell yeah and then boom, lay an egg, make an omelet as simple at that.
I was brought out of my egg-laying fantasy bye the fire alarm blaring and lot of heat in front of me. I turned around and my omelettes were flaming!
Hannah walked around the corner with wet hair dressed in fresh clothes watching me swat at the fire mumbling
"Fucking fire, burnt omeletts, this is why humans can't lay eggs cause of dumbasses like me and the cursed omelettes"
That's how me and Hannah ended up sitting across from each other in silence eating a pizza from the only pizza place open at 8 am in the country.
"So how'd you sleep?" I asked trying to start a conversation.
"I slept okay.." She mumbled back
"I don't know how you feel but..where have you been?"
"Out." She said sternly because she obviously wanted to stop talking about this.
"No shit Sherlock, the entire city was worried about you." I rolled my eyes not willing to let it go.
"I really don't want to talk about my life thank you very much."
She stared at me with a stern glare and I stared back neither one of us wanting to be the wimp who looks away.
For a solid 10-15 minutes we stayed like that before the dumbest bird in history runs into the window right beside us making me fallout of my chair.
Falling out of a chair really hurts your butt.
Hannah was up in her chair laughing so hard she ended up falling down with me, on the way managing to knock the pizza box on my head making both of us laugh even harder.
After a few minutes we just stared at each other pizza covered sitting on the floor in an apartment that smelled like burnt omelettes.
But all I saw was her.
How pretty she looked covered in pizza sauce laughing and smiling.
I never wanted to leave that spot.
Watching her just made me as happy as she looks.
Her eyes shimmer when she laughs and its the prettiest thing I had ever seen.
I never wanted this moment to end.
Pizza covered in a house that smelled like burnt omelettes sitting across from the girl I love.
