mum gave me a blue dress when i got home.
i think she still sees me as a seven year old girl because i didn't have to look at it twice to know there is no way i would be able to fit into the dress. she's still stuck in the time when dad still called home sometimes and mum lived in blissful ignorance and i was still a good kid.
but dad doesn't call home anymore and i'm not such a good kid anymore either.
she just looks at the teachers' complaints about me with a lazy smile and her eyes glazed over.
later that night, out of the blue, she asks me, "you're a good kid, aren't you sweetie?"
i shrug nonchalantly.
"don't listen to what those teachers say about you, alright? you can be your own person."
