N O T E
It's always so nerve wrecking to post the first chapter but here it goes. The picture of the bookstore above is how I imagined the bookstore in this story to be.
Sorry if it starts off a bit shaky but it would mean a lot if you press the star at the end of the page. I hope you guys will enjoy it nonetheless.

"A book is the only place in which you can examine a fragile thought without breaking it, or explore an explosive idea without fear it will go off in your face. It is one of the few havens remaining where a man's mind can get both provocation and privacy."

The smell of books and cinnamon apple scented candles fills my nostrils as I step into my all-time favourite bookstore, Daily Reads. It is filled with books, not many, but just enough for me to get excited and lose myself into it. The bookstore is designed to look like you're in paradise. No, not with rainbows and sunflowers all around, but instead the place is built with dark wood with comfortable bean bags and small couches all around. It's lighted with various candles and pretty lightbulbs and lamps, giving it a warmer feel to the store. Think of it as if you were in a villa. It looks exactly like that, but only to have books surrounding the area. I sigh, breathing in more of the homey scent that I've always loved; books.
Bookstores have always been my favourite place to visit ever since I was little. Whether or not I'm just looking through the books or actually buying them. It makes me feel like home, and I will admit it, I wish I can just live my life in a bookstore. Books on the other hand, is something I cannot live without. Holding a book in my hands and reading it makes me feel alive and pulls me away from my dull and boring life. In short, it's just my form of escape from reality.
I walk around the bookstore and scan my eyes through the books on the shelfs. I don't have a particular book that I'm planning to find and read. As long as the summary looks interesting enough, I'll spend my money on it.
My room, as you would have imagined, is filled with books. Not exactly enough to make it into a bookstore but I have almost two shelves in my room that's filled to the brim with all sorts of books. Something about placing my books on display makes me feel so accomplished. I'll probably have to beg my parents into changing the gym room into a library sooner or later. It'll definitely be more of a good use compared to having it as a gym room considering I rarely even step into the room. It's usually my dad who does.
After scanning through the various book shelfs, I place the 3 books I've picked out on the counter to pay for it.
"Don't tell me you're planning to drown yourself in more books during the summer break." The cashier, Ashleigh groaned. I'm pretty much a regular customer here that I've managed to befriend with the cashier. Believe me or not, she's actually my best friend. There are times where I visit the bookstore just to hang out with her, and sometimes I'll wait for her shift to end so that we can have dinner together.
