• Part one. •

"Mama. you really want to go through with this? This is Compton, California we're talking about."

My mom had to be tripping. Compton wasn't far from here, but it sure isn't somewhere I would want to move. There are way too many negative rumors about that place.

"And baby, this is my job we're talking about. Yes it's Compton, but the place were moving to isn't that bad. I guess you can say it's the classier part of Compton." She smiled as she started packing her clothes.

Classier part of Compton? She had to be losing her shit.

I rolled my eyes. "Mom, there is no such thing."

I have no idea what it's gonna be like there but I sure don't have a good feeling about it. I like living here in Santa Monica. I'm comfortable here. I have been for the past 19 years.

I'm proud of my mom and I want her to continue to enjoy her job and be happy, but moving just doesn't fly too well with me.

My mom continues to pack her things as I walk to my room. I haven't even started packing yet. I don't even feel like it to be honest.

"Kimora, you almost done packing?" My aunt Stacy walks in with a big smile on her face.

"Not feeling this whole moving thing auntie." I said as she plopped down on my bed. She looked at me with a frown and began folding the clothes thrown around my room. "This is a big opportunity for your mama, baby. She wants you to be apart of it."

I know that she's excited. Hell, I'm just as excited as she is. I just don't think it's necessary to move. I have a life too. I want to have a say so in this too. "I know, but what about what I want. What if I want to stay here with you and grandma?"

Aunt Stacy gives me a look. "You really want Aliana to live by herself? Especially if she wants you to be there with her? Don't be selfish."

I rolled my eyes.

I really don't want to hear this. Of course I'm not going to let her go by herself. I'm just stating that I don't want to go in hopes that it will change some minds.

"I'm just saying baby, your mother has been wanting to expand her creations for a long time now. This is finally her chance. Nothing is being taken away from you. You'll still be attending school online. You'll still have a place to live. You'll still be with your mama. Give her a chance to chase her dreams just like you are."

I looked at my aunt and gave her a small smile. "Okay, okay. You're right. I'll go. I still don't like it though."

She laughed.

"You don't have to like it little girl, you're not paying the bills." she said flashing me the goofiest smile and soon strutting out of the room.

I laughed. I guess I'm moving to Compton, California.
