This is in 3rd person (as most of these will be). This bit is what would have happened if Dark hadn't woken up after he had given part of his core to Jason. What if Steros and his men couldn't find a way to stabilize him, or get him to wake up? What if the longer Jason was locked up, the more hope he lost? What if the more hope Jason lost, Dark lost because of their new emotional link?
(I'm heartless, I know, enjoy)
**************************************************************************************"Sir," one of the scientists announced, "Dark's readings are starting to flat-line!"
"What?!" Steros exclaimed, a mad rage flling his eyes.
"His readings are all over the place! He's dying!" The scientist cowered in Steros' intense gaze.
"Stop the procedure!" Steros ordered, "We can't allow him to die! Give him a dose of adreniline, dim the lights, do whatever you have to to keep him alive!"
People manned their stations in a mad frenzy to fulfuill their boss' orders. Everybody was talking at once, it was chaos!
Meanwhile, Steros stared down at the broken figure of Dark lying motionless on the floor. For the first time since his creation, Dark looked...frail, as if if you were to touch him your hand would just go right through. Steros looked upon his greatest creation, whom he worked so hard to train, to make him a force to be rekkoned with. Now, here he was, slowly losing mass as his core became more vonuerable.
After hours of work, one of his advisors came to stand next to him. "Sir, we've done everything we can, but..."
"But, what?" Steros asked sternly.
"W-we can't do anything if he doesn't cooperate. H-he d-doesn't seem to have a will to live..."
Steros' eyes grew wider for a moment, then he turned to look back down at Dark. He was no longer chained, and lay on the floor facing the ceiling. The lights had been dimmed and a few skilled hands were still examining him. Steros sneered down at the firgure, was this Dark's way of getting back at him for everything he has done?
"Bring the boy." Steros ordered.
Soon, two armed guards brought in a skinny 11 year old boy. His hair a mess and his face tired, Jason trudged along with the guards, keeping his eyes downcast. When brought in front of Steros, only then did Jason look up at the hated man. His blue eyes, once bright and full of youth, were now dull with pain. Still, he managed to gain a small amount of courage to sneer up at the man who had kidnapped him.
"Don't give me that look, orphan boy," Steros remarked, "you should be grateful to me for letting you see Dark."
Jason's eyes went wide and he let out a gasp, "Y-you're really letting me be wit-"
"He's dying."
The faint smile on his face immediatly disappeared and tears were already starting to form, "W-what...?"
"He is dying." Steros repeated slower.
The shock and disbelief on Jason's face was apparent. Suddenly, his knees gave out and one of the guards quickly caught him before he hit the ground! Jason's dull eyes stared at nothing as he trembled in the guard's grasp.
"Follow me." Steros turned and walked to the door that led to Dark's holding cell.
The door opened, and Jason saw the motionless body of Dark wired to several machines to try to keep him alive. At that moment, Jason broke away from the guards and sprinted towards his beloved guardian and friend.
"Dark!" he called and slid on his knees to a halt next to Dark's head. Jason glanced at the injuries, his hands hovering over Dark's chest, afraid to touch him.
"Dark! Dark, I'm here," he cried, "wake up!"
He waited a second for a response, anything, but it was silent. Finally, he placed his hand on his shoulder and gently shook him. "Please, Dark, wake up! Say something!"
When he recevied no response again, Jason whipped his head around to glare at Steros. "What did you do to him?!" he screamed.
Steros was taken aback at the fury in the small boy's eyes. The look was all to familar to him though, it was the same look that he had recieved from Dark so many times. Seeing this look from a human, no less a child, gave him a feeling he hadn't allowed himself to feel...guilt.
"What did you do to him," Jason repeatedly shouted, "YOU MONSTER!"
The boy collapsed onto the body of Subject 134, otherwise known as Dark. The dimly lit room was filled with the pitiful cries of a boy who had now lost his family twice in his short life.
"Dark, please...come back...You p-promised that I-I'd never be alone again!"
.......
"Dark...?"
