Chapter Two

I looked around the room, my eyes wide, disbelieving. What had happened in here? Red liquid covered the wall and floors, which I was guessing was blood. The desk was completely smashed, the windows were shattered, and there were papers everywhere.

"What?" I whispered, still in disbelief at what I was seeing.

I walked closer to the mess, and noticed my mother's lucky necklace lying on the ledge of the window. It was almost like someone had left it there for me to find. How cliché.

I inspected it and found that it was in perfect condition, like somehow had stopped destroying everything and carefully laid down a $350 necklace given to my mother by her supposed ex-husband I had never met.

I peered out of the window, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary. A tear slipped down my cheek. This looked suspiciously like a kidnapping, or even a murder. Hopefully it wasn't a murder.

I turned away from  the window, my eyes brimming with unshed tears. My mother was the only one in my family, the only one that was always there for me. Now I was alone. And I needed to find her.

Suddenly, I ntoiced a white sheet of paper, contrasting against the dark carpet. I knelt down and looked at it closer. It was a note, looking like it was written in haste. It said:

Daughter of  Louise -

Your mother is now MIA. She was forcibly removed from her house because of her inability to follow our orders. We are disappointed in her. She was expected to listen to our instructions and complete them with high quality.

Instead of agreeing to our demands, Louise refused us and continued working against us with her current company. This company is potientially dangerous to this world. Louise was very high up in this company, and would eventually be controlling the movements of the entire company.

This woman has been detained and brought with us. She will answer our questions, vital to the future of our competing company. If she does not conform to our wishes and answer our questions, her life will be in jeopardy.

If this letter or what it's concerning is brought to the authorities' attention, you and your mother will be slowly killed. Please do not mention this to anyone you know, or they will lose their life as well.

Thank you,

The GROUP

I gasped and held back tears. This must be some kind of joke. It had to be. Suddenly, the doorbell rang out from downstairs.
