I woke up with the sun in my eyes from the hospital room window. Luke was walking around putting things in a bag. I groaned.
Luke turned around to face me. "Hey. You're awake," he whispered.
"Yeah, I'm awake." I smiled at him. "What are you doing?"
"I'm packing because I'm going home today. The nurse came in while you were sleeping and said I could go home."
"Oh. Well then I should probably get my stuff together, too." I started to get up but Luke quickly made me lay back down.
"I've already packed your things. You just need to lay down. These past few days have been crazy for you and you need to rest."
"Luke, I've slept for at least eight hours. I'm fine. I need to get ready so we can go home."
He sighed. "Alright."
I got up and walked into the bathroom. I put on some concealer, powder, and mascara. Then I pulled my hair up into a bun. I changed into some grey joggers and a navy blue shirt that I got from church camp last year. Once I was done, I took my stuff and put them in my bag. Then I put on my white converses.
"Okay, I'm ready when you are," I told Luke.
"Alright. Let's go." We picked up our bags and left the hospital after signing all the discharge papers. We got in my car and drove to McDonald's to get some breakfast. Then we drove back to my house. Luke helped me unpack my things and we decided to watch a few episodes of Grey's Anatomy. Luke actually isn't crazy about the show, but he watches it for me.
After we had watched about three or four episodes, I was really hungry and it was about lunch time. "Hey, are you hungry?"
"Yeah. A little. Are you?" He asked.
I nodded and he said, "Where do you want to go?"
"Um, Taco Bell. I don't want anything big. I'm supposed to go eat Mexican tonight with Meredith and her boyfriend. You can come too if you want."
"Okay. So you want Mexican from Taco Bell and then Mexican later tonight?"
I looked at him for a second and he nodded his head. "Oh, right. I've been dating you for three years now. I should probably know you're obsessed with Mexican food." We laughed as we walked down the stairs.
"Mom, we're going to Taco Bell. We'll be back!"
My mom rushed in and said, "Oh, please be careful. You call me if anything out of the ordinary happens. Be back in one hour or I'm going to freak out and you know I will so please be back soon."
"Mom. Chill. This is exactly why I didn't want to tell you what was happening. Just chill out. We're fine. Nothing's going to happen."
She exhaled and said, "Okay. Just please be careful."
"I got it, mom." I grabbed my keys and walked out the door followed by Luke.
We got in the car and I looked at him. "Now you see why I didn't want to tell her?"
He nodded as he buckled up. We drove to Taco Bell talking about anything and everything other than what is currently going on.
We ordered our usuals- two nachos and a Baja Blast freeze for me and a number 8 for him- and we sat down at a table where we could see the car just in case. We talked and ate our food and when we were done, we walked back out to the car. I got in and saw a note on the steering wheel. I looked over at Luke and he snatched the note off of the wheel and read it out loud. "Lol, so you thought you could just ignore me? Haha. You might not want to do that. If I were you, I'd take this seriously before someone gets burned. Xoxo"
